Showroom Displays

Recommended Posts

So just wanted to throw this out there, I've notice no one in the vinyl wrap industry makes a good display showing all the available colors and finishes, and since we are in the graphic design and sign industry it wouldn't be hard for us to produce these types of displays.

Does anyone have any input on what they look for in a display?

Here's what I know I'd want-

1 for each brand (Avery, 3M, Arlon to start with)

Wall mount

Uses actual vinyl as the color swatch

What else would you want in a display?

We were doing these for a while... but the latest launch of colors put us at 76 individual swatch colors.  Not to mention, when a color is discontinued, or a manufacturer adds more, your display then becomes obsolete.

We're currently working on changing our available displays and I know our wall mounted displays will be easy enough to attach a swatch book to.  Here's a sneak peak for the 1080 line:

The hood is wrapped in a base color and then an accent color.

Hope to have them available as early as next week.

edit: having trouble posting them as an image, but you can view them here:

A few months ago 3M had a display van come through our shop.

Sorry now that I didn't take any pics.

The 1080 display had the common 3m  theme background on steel .

There were all kinds of 2" buttons with the various films on them attached by magnets.

Display walls are actually used a lot. We had the same problem Jason pointed out where consolidation of colours and new releases can make it a pain in the a$$ to manage (unless you leave heaps of left over space). We put them on Perspex to allow us to move them around a lot. The reason we haven't updated is the newest range of swatches came out in larger squares which means a whole new wall.

The way we did it was get Perspex rectangles cut the same size as the swatch and wrap the individual swatches on top. Have seen others wrap 3d models (the same available in paint stores) but this relies on an offcut on all available colours.

I would be interested in one of those 1080 boards. What are they going to cost?

Wow $65 each, that will be one expensive colour wall !

That and the fact 1080 is more expensive than Avery Supreme. More money for a product that is not as easy to install IMO

Agreed, but thing with Avery is you can see though it and it can look different depending on the vehicles paint color. Other than that I go 50/50 on which is better. I do like the 3M Deep Matte Black better than Avery's matte black.
