what type of windshield film are you using?

Recommended Posts

Im looking for something that has a relatively High TSER , easy to shrink and good optical clarity and most important of all not be crystaline expensive

I've tried 50 percent global/suncontrol nr and love it clarity wise and shrinkability , but its to dark and has a tser arround 30 [from memory] , I ve tried 70 global cermaic but way to hard to shrink and horrible hazing issues, so i returned it,  but had great heat rejection and a TSER of 50 percent

I know 3m crystaline also TSER of 50 but way to pricey

Was looking at express nr cl 70% Tser 26 percent

and there all metal 70% which is 24TSER but thats to

and obviously that's pretty low TSER and the sizes are very odd like 60 inch and 30 inch which is very incovenent for installs when i normally get 40inch rolls

does anybody have any recommendations: I know were not supposed to discuss prices so im call it value in $$$$$

and im looking for something with a global value for reference : we will  call global $$ call crystalline $$$$$

I would love to know what your using , the TSER, shrinkability and value .

Keep in mind, higher the technology, typically it is harder to install and price will be higher because of that technology...especially when you want the higher performance without the hazing.  The key is to make sure you are charging enough money...as your film choices go higher, so should your profit.  For example, we have Llumar CTX for our Ceramic and 3M Crystalline for our higher performing film.  Even though Crystalline is well over two times the price of CTX, we make way more profit on Crystalline than CTX.  Basically you wanting a low price, high performance, and easy installation is like our customers walking in wanting dark, but legal.  You have to pick and choose which is the priority to you.

With that being said, SolarFX IRFX is a great option to get you IR performance while keeping the price super low.  Want even more performance, then SolarFX FXtreme2/RejectorFX will work.

I haven't found a 70% I'm happy with to date. I honestly don't have much request for that particular shade but it would be nice to have. However I use global 80% for legalish windshield film. It's thicker like the 70 is but I haven't come across a shield I couldn't successfully tint with it yet. Low haze to it, no starburst effect, and tser is 44 I think.

Madico charcool works pretty good for most guys as far as price goes. Shrinks well. Ok clarity. SolarFX IRFX has best bang for your buck. But it's only offered to a 38 at the moment. And is too dark for a lot of customers. The rejector series comes in a 70% and performs well but does have minor hazing issues... gotta take the good with the bad unless you want to spend $$$ on high end films like crystalline or huper Ceramic. Both of which suck to install if you aren't familiar with em.

Yeah I've been waiting on it!  Wish they'd do a 55 in it too. Hell I've done 38 on the last 11 Windshields I've done... some new trend round here. Whatever... a rainy night and they'll be back to R&R Lighter and I get to say "told ya so"
