While it is possible that the plotter left those marks,,, it's sound more like tool marks from pushing water out during install.  If you can feel them with your fingernail, then the film is scratched (from a squeegee or hard card or even the wrong paper towels).  The shop should understand what happened and fix it and also they now are aware of possible tools that need attention.

That is just water drying from where they were pushing water out.  It will dry, just leave it alone.  If it was trash it would be whiteish from the outside.

I have to pre-warn my customers of this when they have a windshield done and leave with it immediately after I finish.   It freaks them out sometimes because of the amount of these spots all over the windshield.  I tell them what I just told you.

@Bham sorry I haven’t gotten back to you. I will take a picture of one of my sample boards and let you see some numbers if one of these folks don’t beat me to it. This film feels very “Global like” which the rep did not appreciate very much. It is thicker as @no ma'am said, stickier and better scratch coat. I have long been critical of CTX and even though the engineers at Llumar assured me when I visited that all films have same adhesive it did not feel the same. This film corrects that. I think we were the first to get it in Alabama. Picked it up in June prior to showing up in the catalogs and it has been wonderful for us. Just wish they had a 25 or 20%

Thing with tucking is you just will get those few times they just pop up. Had this happen on a Maxima last week, which I usually pull. Spent like 10 minutes messing with fingers. Just pulled the for the rest. Im tucking the older Gen Silverado and newer F150s and it ends there. I actually like removing stuff and like installing rollups like an easy, stationary SUV window.

I NEVER tuck. I do spend more time now days pulling sweeps out. I never have fingers popping up as I make sure to shrink the film before installing.

Way to many cuts and stitches to talk about. Three herniated discs in my kneck from falling out of a truck and landing on my head. Blew L4/L5 flipping my rolly round chair and me in to the rocker of a car. Had surgery to remove that disc in two pieces that were not repairable. One knee replacement....three orthoscopics....

This is one way people tint fast...they dont press out any tiny specs! I press out anything along top edge before rolling glass up. Then I check the entire glass. Then when job is finished I check again. If they let it go like that they either dont care or thats just  the quality of their work. I would have them remove it and just go somewhere else.

The fact that you didn’t get paperwork for it was done for cash isn’t necessarily suspicious . I’m a reputable Llumar dealer and I won’t give paperwork for a windshield tint as it’s legalities are questionable. I have only ever used AIR80 in a windshield because despite its questionable legalities, I’m all for helping customers with their skin issues with a tint that in no way is dangerous for visibility.
With that being said, there should be no reason why the shop can not show you the tint with lot number in a “bonified” box for your piece of mind . If they cannot , I would go right to head office and confirm that they at least buy that particular product. If they do, the odds are you are ok.
Also as a last resort , if you go to another Llumar tint shop who knows the film lines well, they can look at the job and should be able to tell you just by looking at it with a trained “Llumar eye” .

I’ve used the six inch unger for close to 40 years. Make the black blade so it hangs over the end of the channel about 3/8 inch so you don’t possibly scratch the top of some door panels. The Fusion Soft Pink Clean in a handee handle is great also if you don’t like the unger.

Tinted my first old Mustang today. One of the very first ones, a 1964 1/2! The install came out super clean and the customer was beyond pleased. 😁

Are you making sure that water drops are not dripping from the door frame onto the glue side of your film thus causing contamination? I always wipe any drips overhanging so as to decrease chances of dirt in the film.

Ask for a redo. Spots are contamination the haze is from his slip solution. Maybe he grabbed the wrong bottle of stuff to spray film? Ive had that marked haze when I have grabbed ammonia spray for stripping instead of my slip app solution.

there is “one” thing you can do to fix it
you can razor blade all the defroster lines down, then the film will lay in smooth. Defroster won’t work ever again, but it will look great.
