I got this tip along time ago here and I’m just passing it along. Get some remote wire like a 12-14 gauge spool on Amazon. Preferably black. Then shove that wire into the gasket with a bone tool. This will open it up and keep dust trapped behind it making install super easy. Leave the wire in there when done. If done correctly no one will ever see it except the guy that replaces broken glass.

I’ve heard this from you a very long time ago and just never felt the need as the prices went up so did most of the bad customers. I have my screening techniques down but this one slipped through the cracks. Trust me my techniques would have fished this one out except for the fact someone else booked the appointment for her. 🍻 brother.

During my time tinting I found customers were the worst part of the job. I went through every variation of the scenario you described, so each time I had a customer that didn't believe me about the drying time, or found some flaw that is more visible with tint etc, I realized they would not believe me if I explain this after the job is done because it sounds like bullsht excuses.
I realized I had to preempt the situation before the work even begins.

Thanks Tintdude this is something I finally feel is necessary to add to my business. On another I will just give a full refund to this customer and call it a day. The money will be well spent if I never have to see her again.

Sorry the quality is so low, it's 15 years old, but here's the Ryk shrink...

If I had a buck fifty for everyone that has said that to me over the years, I could probably take a week off.

Just to clarify, my buddy wasn't in on the film.  He makes skidplates and catalytic converter protection pieces.  He was there installing his products for the build.  He knows better than to attempt something like that without practice/training.

That's what it was.  A protection film.  These type of builds focus on trying to encourage people to do things themselves.  I can only imagine the visibility of a DIY install like that though.

To add to what @TintDudesaid,,, @GiftBobson since this is an off-roading video, this is more than likely a windshield protectant film that does actually go on the outside. It is not for normal vehicles and is sort of like the paint protection film you see on peoples hoods and fenders. Normal window tint goes on the inside of the vehicle so the elements of weather do not destroy the film.

Also part of the joke here is the fact they installed it horribly in the outdoors.

I would have some questions as well.

-What type of glass? (IG, single pane)
-How important is natural light to the space and it’s workings during daylight hours?
-Is there any visibility concerns looking outward/inward into the nighttime hours?
-What does the CEO expect the exterior to look like post tinting?

The pics look like this is a Tesla so the rear glass would have to be a 60" piece to be able to do that in one piece.

If I am correct and it is a Tesla @TrojanGoose I would have them remove the rear glass and not re-tint it unless they can do the whole thing in one piece.  Tesla's have a reputation for "thermal fracture" due to the longe curved design of that rear glass.  Tinting only half the glass could possibly cause it to crack.

That stuck bolt is in a collar and with a punch can be punched out. I put the collar on a bench vise to drill out. Used a punch to set it back in.

TintDude reacted to smookee408@yahoo.com in Tesla Model Y Windshield Rear View Mirror WARNING
Mods move this if this aint the right spot. Hoping for more exposure. Tesla Model Y front windshield rear view mirror removal. Some models come with twist off some have a t20 bolt. Well Tesla impeccable quality control sometimes they put too much blue locktite. This bolt snapped off. The assembly is not sold separately and its one whole camera assembly that’s probably gonna require calibration. Cha ching. If it feels too tight dont take it off and decline the job or if you’re extra frisky you can  probably take a soldering iron to heat up the bolt to lessen the locktite. There’s 6 T bolts that you can take the bracket off and reverse drill the bolt out which is what I did. Found another bolt with the same threads to replace broken bolt. Since moving the camera theres going to probably be an error message like park assist unavailable. With the help of a tesla tech i was able to go into service menu and find all the cams were green and good to go. Driving for a day or so should make the message go away. Good luck Tint bros.
