Tint Slayer got a reaction from TintNerdz213 in Cleaning windows
@TintNerdz213 I feel scrubbing back glass with the straight 409 helps clean better to make the film stick a little better, then the Dawn 4x and scrub again, then i make sure it's all dry after cleaning. i use one of those 3M tub and tile handled scrubbers for leverage when scrubbing, i just slap a white scrubby over the existing blue scrubber so i can re-use the handle, certain back glass i use 3M 000 synthetic steel wool instead of white scrubby. i always use the 000 synthetic steel wool and 409 to scrub the dot matrix. I use the Joy Non Ultra and Dawn Simple clean for slip because they're the gentlest dish liquid meaning less chance of adhesive abuse and that Dawn Simple Clean is amazing slip, i wouldn't use Dawn 4x for slip because of it's higher acidic cleaner content, but most pro glass cleaners use it for window cleaning, it works well for side glass, i don't use 409 on side glass.I'm not sure what exactly that i do is good or bad, i know it works for me.

i agree on the bulldozer. Also, the softness of the rubber on the end of the bulldozer pushes the film between the raised dot matrix dots a little better than a harder squeegee, or wrap a paper towel around a hard card and squeegee it so you get down between the dots good and dry it good.

I use Joy Non-Ultra or Dawn Simple Clean for my slip, and Dawn 4x to clean windows, i also use Formula 409 on back glass then Dawn 4x. I also use different knives for different cuts. I'm sure someone can do an install with one of everything but i tend to overthink the chit out of everything.

But I would add for #3 that it could be helpful to “wet check” the film before installing. Which basically just means after shrink/trimming pull back the film, wet the glass and anchor the piece like you would install it. Any areas that were not sufficiently shrunk will show themselves.

1. Increase price to lose those cheap customers asking for discounts.
2. Get a Bulldozer.
3. Rough cut film before shrinking.

Tint Slayer reacted to audioman7 in Johnson and Johnson
Ya I feel like I'm shaking constantly also as I have always been. It's just weird. Getting weird tack too. Making it seem like every window has Rain x on it. But That can't be the case. I guess I'm going to have to switch to dawn.

Sounds like a creative ad to me. New member. General questions, in depth info about his "friends film", continues to defend his friends film.

You get what you pay for. Cheap stuff is always good to learn on, but do yourself and the rest of us a favor and use name brand quality stuff for the public. The warranty is only as good as the dealer/distributor network. If your "friend" stops selling it is there another distributor? Solar guard and Suntek have their own horror stories though some have good experiences with them. You might try solar FX or Express window films. They are good products and known to last. You don't see or hear anything bad about those two. Plus the distributors are great folks. @whitehog sells solar fx. Hope this helps.

If you want to not like your friend in a few years start buying from him.

Tint Slayer reacted to pbalentine in No more black turbo or black unger channel
After using the orange crush for months Im over it. Even retried the pink clean and that one should never be used in auto tinting. The orange crush just takes too much effort, plus it leaves streaks. Only using orange for bg now. IMO using the unger is less effort, most cost effective and cleans better than anything. Im done trying new tools....I would of been better stickng to one tool than going back and forth over the years.

Tint Slayer reacted to Tint Conditions in Xsun Window Films
I thought that the gps series was decent, but it doesn’t compete with global which is the other film I’ve been using through express . I tried xsun xfinity nr....horrible . Not a fan of hp film in anything but they seem to have decent price points for their film . Pretty sure it’s all reboxed llu*** by the color of it

Tint Slayer reacted to jh812 in GCC Jaguar V LX Plotter 40”
It's aight but I'm not actually using the first cut per say. I am apart of a group that has private files with notes and such added on. We do pretty well in there but there's also patterns with notes saying the pattern sucks.
Side note I currently am using a trial of the dap and those patterns are probably the best I've seen. Only down side you have to buy their film which I'm not opposed to doing but I can't convert fully too given some of their stuff doesn't meter where I need it to. Well two down sides their windshield strips are limited. I'd really hate to run two programs but we'll see what I decide

Tint Slayer reacted to Tint Eastwood in Heat shrinking
My guess it has more to do with the installer rather than the film. Really doubt those ladies could determine a “bad batch” over the phone.
-
Tint Slayer reacted to Bham in Heat shrinking
Seriously. They are still putting out "bad batches" . Just another reason NOT to use their film.

Tint Slayer reacted to highplains in side windows put on no shrink
I almost never shrink side glass. Mustangs, Camaros, and Corvettes being the exception

Tint Slayer reacted to Bham in Corny Tank Inflator (replace the compressor)
I haven't seen anyone mention this yet, so if you didn't know or haven't heard of this, well; you have now. :your welcome
If you use a corny tank all the time and are doing mobile work on site? You need to add the Ryobi Fast Inflator to your tool kit. If you remember to hit the corny tanks at the shop on the compressor before you leave you are usually good for the day, and nobody likes carrying around a compressor in the van. Well get you the fast inflator and a battery and you can recharge the corny on site without the compressor. It works rather well actually and will get you out of a bind if you need to pressurize your tank.
