I'm in Charleston, South Carolina and today it hit the "extreme" temperature of 20 degrees! Soooooo cold that they even delayed school for three hours. Ha! For God's sake it's the middle of winter! I'm not from up north or anything (I'm actually from here), but I really think people around here need to put their big boy pants on and deal with it. Why am I posting this on a window tint forum? Because everybody around here is gonna' stay in their houses today and NOT spend money on my window tint. My rant it over have a nice day....

Schools were delayed here too, partly because of black ice and partly for cold temps for kids at the bus stop. We are @ -4*, with windchill it's anywhere from -10* to -20* :cold

 

Had to cancel a frost install in a warehouse because it was on north face single pane. Water froze right to the glass.

I don't even want to hear about it guys until you can beat our windchill factor this morning: -40F

I can take the cold ( part of being a Canadian but my its brutal outside)

If you take boiling water and spray it, it freezes and evaporates before it can hit the ground :shock

I tried the boiling water thing here.. it's +3F here.. (Currently +5F) 

 

My living room window is single pane.. huge picture window... and when I woke up it had  a nice layer of frost on it. (on the inside) I've never see that since I've been here... like 9 yrs or so. 

 

Crazy...

Just spray the window with a good layer of water and collect your cash.

 

When he complains that its gone after the temps warm up tell him he ordered frost . If you want frost window film that costs more.

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      Captain Obvious has two cents err senses to share: 1) The film should be removed and replaced, because it appears to have adhesive blemishes that shouldn't be there, and 2) The film should be reviewed/inspected once taken from the roll to avoid losing time and resources due to manufacturing issues. Little pieces not so much, but back glass and windscreen pieces ... definitely.

      I switched so long ago... first to KDS but they went away. NT are great though. I use a piece of white strapping material as a cutting buffer between the blade and glass. Some use a button but I didn't like the feel..

      Stratos 70 on windshield, what is this?

      I can't win with getting tint decent on the windshield. I had 3M on my F150 done twice and still has major defects. Recently did Stratos twice on my F350 and I see this granular spotted, texture pattern on the tint. It's super obvious in the corner here but also right in my view when driving. It's honestly hard to point out and show someone but when your driving and stuff is moving behind the windshield, it becomes more obvious. The lighting also matters. The first time I did the windshield, I had a two foot line on the windshield. Thinking it was tint, they removed the tint and it was apparently a defect in the Ford windshield. An issue between the laminated glass layers caused this big defect. So they removed the tint, I had Ford replace the windshield on a 2024 F350 but when the tint shop removed the tint, they made a bunch of micro scratches in the front windshield, probably from scrapping the glue off. I told them but I didn't care since Ford was replacing the windshield anyways. So if basically I'm trying to figure out what this texture stuff is and if I should have them replace or remove it. Replacing it might just have different issues but also afraid they will scratch the windshield.

      Need some help

      Never overlook the condition of the floor. Back when I did install, I used to mist the floor between the vehicle and the peel board. This is done between misting the window and walking toward the peel board to mist the pattern liner, peel liner and spray adhesive for install. Tacks any dust for the duration of each pattern install, so repeat each time a pattern is going to be installed.
