Diablo's Tint reacted to highplains in Contamination issue
Unless it's brand new off the lot the first thing I do on any vehicle, but trucks especially, is to dampen a microfiber towel with some rubbing alcohol/water solution (20%alc) or slip solution, roll the windows down and wipe the seals out. That makes a huge difference with cutting out contamination.

It’s possible the board is dirty but I use distilled water. I keep my shop pretty clean though I feel like it’s something to do with the humidity causing squeegee to run right over trash.

Diablo's Tint reacted to TintWizard in Need to buy first entry level plotter for tinting/ am part time tinter
Hi Toronto Tint . Try Kijiji, you have to keep an eye out for s good deal but they do happen in there. I’m about 2 hrs from you (assuming your in Toronto by your handle name) . I just picked up a spare plotter (Vinyl Express Q100 42” ) for $1100 Canadian and runs like a charm. I’d take a good used plotter over a new cheap one any day . Good luck in finding one , good luck with the part time business [emoji4][emoji106]

Diablo's Tint reacted to AbelAxe in Nick the New Guy from Oregon
Just wanted to say hello...I havent tinted one window yet, but Im going to practice on my 2003 Silverado 2500HD. Passenger and driver side windows. I ordered a 50' roll of tint from Express Window Films, and I ordered up some tools. If Im at all lucky I hope by the time Ive used up the 50' of film that I have a couple windows that look pretty good. LOL...Im wearing out the search feature on this site....There is a LOT of great information on this site.
Thanks

Diablo's Tint reacted to TintDude in Tennessee Tower Window Film
The Department of General Services will add reflective film to all exterior windows in the Tennessee Tower to reduce solar radiant heat gain, thereby reducing HVAC energy consumption and increasing occupant comfort
The upfront cost for the window film is $610,000. With an estimated annual energy savings of $362,000, the project is expected to pay for itself in less than two years and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2,451 metric tons per year. The Tennessee Tower was built in 1970, and is the largest state building in Tennessee.

Diablo's Tint reacted to Blackwolftinting in Cordless lighting for film patterns
I’ve been tinting for about 24 years. I’ve used every sort of light there is(aside from the tubelights I’ve seen on here). I’ve finally found one that does the trick. It’s like a second sun when you turn it on. The base allows you to position it to shine up, down or level with the floor. Angling it up makes cutting around windshield mirrors/electronics much easier.

Diablo's Tint reacted to TintDude in How many times have you "quit"
it can be very frustrating, especially if you are the high strung type and tend to get pissed off about mistakes. Speed will come with time and practice, focus more on routine and speed will follow naturally without being in a hurry or trying to be fast.

Diablo's Tint reacted to Blackwolftinting in I finally got my pouches
I was trying to find Shady for almost 6 years to get more pouches made. I was finally able to track him down. Just got them back from the embroidery place yesterday. I’m not sure what his name is on here, or if he even checks this site. Anyway, here’s a picture of the pouches after embroidery. I bought 5 total. One tan and another cream colored one aren’t pictured. These are perfect for me because of the center pocket for Olfa placement, and each big side pocket that holds my Blue Max and any other tools I need for installation.

Diablo's Tint reacted to Blackwolftinting in Bottom Loading/ Top Loading
I top install everything and tape off any doors that have felt edges(Wranglers included). I never tinted at a shop that pulled sweeps or panels, so I never learned how to do it. I have zero issues with felt since I tape it off.

Diablo's Tint reacted to Apex Tint in Visor strip cutting
I agree, a 10” roll makes life easy. When I reorder 5% I order the 30” roll and have them cut it 20/10 so I have a roll for side windows and a roll for visors. One edge will be better than the other so just check before laying out your film on the WS and put the cleaner edge on the bottom.
I usually just grab a tape measure and pull measurements from the top molding to the bottom of the visor and make sure it’s the same on both sides.

Diablo's Tint reacted to midnighttinting in Visor strip cutting
Hate cutting visor strips. Main reason why I’m getting a plotter. I have a 60” roll of 5%. I just pull out what I need and cut on the film handler

Diablo's Tint reacted to Apex Tint in What tint job do you have on your personal car?
Just did a front match on my 2019 Tundra with Global QDPC 18%. Not a perfect match, but Toyotas never are.
Planning to do the shield in 70% QDPC, and I’ll probably wrap the rest of the truck in the 18% over the factory privacy glass. Just too busy tinting other people’s stuff! Also not looking forward to that back window lol.
