And that " at best " would be a FAR stretch for me. I don't mean to give a customer a hard time but I just don't understand the whole make your problem my problem mindset when I have done absolutely nothing wrong.
Same here if by some means I was forced into replacing the glass I damn sure wouldn't be retinting it. That's a tough situation all together that I hope I never run into.

Yeah I agree with that, don't believe I would've taken care of that. At best maybe offer a free installation on the new tint.

The absolute worst sad maybe 1 out of 10 are ok to deal with.

Double edged sword.

How/where do you slice them? Just where the bottoms meet the sides?
Might have to make this mod on the Silverado/Sierra trucks that I see too...
:Yep once they're back in place you can't tell the difference.

I got a call about one of these today.
Gonna try to squeeze him in this weekend.
I'm a bottom loader so what do you guys mean by this? The sweep can be removed but has to be cut?
It means it's a one piece seal all the way around the window, similar to some of the 2k era GMC Sierra. They leave as a two piece when I'm done

That's your difference. Not saying this is always true but you're typically gonna have a higher quality install and someone that puts more effort into each job with a one man show. Similar scenario you take your vehicle into the dealership to have work done cause who knows your vehicle better than the dealership right? Wrong. Truth is they've got some kids in the back they may have two years of experience, and you're going to overpay. Why, cause they have a fancy waiting area with cheap coffee and stale chips. Now the mechanic right down the road who's been doing his job since the 80's and hasn't updated it since then can probably tell you before you walk in what's wrong with the vehicle.
Your one man show has a lot more to gain or lose with every customer. The big name places well honestly they couldn't care less and are just going to say you're being to difficult to deal with. Which yeah you're being picky but not completely out of line.

Finally rolled windows down to check top edge last night (tint was done Saturday mid day) there is a between 1/8th-1/16th space between film and window bevel. So I know I’m probably just a picky asshole, but the spacing isn’t even in places. I’ve always had it to the beveled edge before and add the other issues (there’s a hair or other contamination dead center low on on window) I think I’m going to ask for it to be refldone. Keep y’all posted I’ll go by after work and see what their suggestion is. If their unwilling to correct my issues is asking for removal and a refund reasonable?
What I would do if I were in your shoes not that this is a horrible job by any means but I would just ask them to remove it and refund. Carry it to the guy you know and trust to do the work. Be sure to tell him it was tinted before as well. Out of curiosity is he a bigger shop like this one or a one man show?

There's a few spots that need to be touched up is all. The dot matrix is what it is, the silvering around the quarter glass is normal. Dodge glass is super soft and scratches very easily so no telling without pics.

As a user of Llumar and several other brands of film, I find it to be not as user friendly as some of the other films I use. And the scratch coat I find to be on the softer side.
That's the most polite way to put that a film sucks

If I'm in your shoes I would probably just do the silver 68. Heat rejection is almost 50%, and the darkness you're wanting. They actually have a precut program now as well. May be best to call in for that but I'm not sure, as I only ever buy by the roll. I would highly advise against using an automotive film since it's a risky job anyways.

Thanks guys!

what is it about 2 staging that makes it more likely to produce fingers?
Tension in the film and like highplains said moisture on that bottom seal. If you've got one that's border line and you put the seal back in wet guaranteed to pop a finger

It was probably 2-3. Years ago now. I don't think they are still in business. At that time we bought 2 tank bags, ( covers with pouches in them ) a kneeling mat and the pouch. All of them are still in is but the pouch.
He's still in business, I think they just revamped the site in the last couple of months.

It's more of a contract thing. I'm not sure if that's an unspoken agreement or in writing as I do not purchase that film. If I may suggest checking out express window films site you may find a film that's suitable for you. They have lighter high ir options (pearl ceramic) as well as dual reflective film. I'm skeptical as well about tinting those as no manufacturer is going to warranty it if something were to happen. I would only do it if it were my personal residence and I were going to change them out should this not work.

Ain't nothing wrong with that homie. We all handle situations differently with different circumstances. You went above and beyond for the customer and hopefully they know that.
