no feeling quite like wading up $100 worth of film just to toss it in the trash to make you question why you're doing what you're doing.

jh812 got a reaction from pbalentine in 35% front and back 50% rear?
You could it probably wouldn't be crazy different. You typically look through just the back glass with the rear view mirror and not side by side so I don't think it would be terrible. What kind of car is it?

I think what happens is I’ll get contamination and I’ll blame the tool. Then do the same with that new tool. There are a dozen tools to clean with and none are really a whole lot better than the other. Just got to settle on one and forget it.
I was stoked to see that the orange cruwh blade can go into a hard card sharpener. It made the blade sharper than a new one.

I tell myself that about every time I try something new. The only reason I got away from the black Unger is because I would always get a piece or two of rubber in the film. This didn't happen for a long long time, so IDK if something changed or what. I use the clear crush with black and white squeegee for sides and blue max. Tried out the hammer tool that's out and it will scratch the piss outta window if I ain't careful. I'm in the same boat though screw the new stuff I'm sticking with what's working.

Product placement is key to brand recognition.

jh812 reacted to Tint Eastwood in What do you do about new glass care instructions?
During the tempering process the glass is passed through a furnace via rollers, so the side that is pointed up has the risk of airborne glass fines to settle on the surface. Since the glass is heated to such high temperatures these particles embed themselves. Most of the time they are impossible to see, but every now and again you will have a pane that has a collection of larger specs that can distort the glass. Generally speaking, it is not possible to visually inspect a window for glass fines so the best way to test is use a scraper in a bottom or top corner of a pane and listen for a gritty sound as you scrape. If it feels/sounds like you are scraping over sand and use the 0000 steel wool or an appropriate scrubby pad. I have found that using a solvent mixed in with your cleaning solution (Denatured alcohol) can help cut through some of the residue and grime.
Also worth mentioning that not all glass is tempered or assembled equally, you will find some tempered glass to be worse than others or not affected at all. It really comes down to how well the manufacturer is at keeping the airborne particles off of the glass when tempering. So remember that there is always one "scratchy" side and one smooth side to tempered panes, and if it is a double pane or IG unit, pray that the manufacturer is smart enough to glaze the scratchy sides inward.
Tint away after appropriate cleaning, but always remember that one day the film WILL go bad and when that day comes a PS adhesive will be much easier to remove without damaging the glass.

It's aight but I'm not actually using the first cut per say. I am apart of a group that has private files with notes and such added on. We do pretty well in there but there's also patterns with notes saying the pattern sucks.
Side note I currently am using a trial of the dap and those patterns are probably the best I've seen. Only down side you have to buy their film which I'm not opposed to doing but I can't convert fully too given some of their stuff doesn't meter where I need it to. Well two down sides their windshield strips are limited. I'd really hate to run two programs but we'll see what I decide

The panel no longer easily pops backs to get the seal out. I pulled the panel on one side and was able to pop the panel on the other. If you only pop it, be cafefull the black clips at the top edge dont fall in the door. Those top clips are so damn tight. Ive never removed a panel that was this tight at the top ever. Heres what you remove: 1 - 7mm behind handle and 1 - 7mm behind interior panel (below the switch cover).
