Terribly arranged pics... but this was from yesterday... Left pane was replaced and needed to be retinted. 25% vlt.

I know it's nothing special.. but I haven't been working much, so... lol

Nice Roach.  Any tips on doing accurate relief cuts on the corners?  Those types of windows with deep frames are a struggle for me.

  2. Thanks Roach!  Very helpful advice.

I made a huge mistake when I bidded the job and didn't get exact measurements.  I just know that I need *roughly* a 12x12 pattern for each pane.

I'm attempting to pre cut everything, but it's not going well.   I have a 36" roll with a box slitter set up at 12" and 24", giving me three 12" cuts.  I have yet to get a good straight edge from my middle piece.

I think I will pick up a cutting mat of some sort and a good T-Square - thanks for the tip.

I've done a few of these before and I found it impossible to get perfect cuts... I'm assuming a few imperfections are to be expected?

  3. Hi everyone,

I have a few sets of these french doors with single panes to knock out this weekend.  I'm not looking forward to it.  Any tips?

I sold ceramic for this job which i'm now regretting, due to how thick and difficult it is to work with.

Any tips/tricks would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  4. Freak accident for sure! The razor had to fall perfect for it to do that kind of damage.

Worst cut I’ve got from tinting is when I was playing around with shaving a frameless window. I thought it was a good idea to run my index finger across the top edge to see if my shave was below the beveled edge of the glass. Cut the s*** out of my finger - thing wouldn’t stop bleeding. Won’t make that mistake again!

  5. I agree, a 10” roll makes life easy. When I reorder 5% I order the 30” roll and have them cut it 20/10 so I have a roll for side windows and a roll for visors. One edge will be better than the other so just check before laying out your film on the WS and put the cleaner edge on the bottom.

I usually just grab a tape measure and pull measurements from the top molding to the bottom of the visor and make sure it’s the same on both sides.
