I've been tinting right at a year now on weekends and whenever I get the chance and am just now to the point that I feel confident I can take on most vehicles that come my way.... I'm finally to the point that I know I can sell my work confidently and stand behind it.

IMO it takes about a year of window tinting to get of the learning curve.  so many different cars and tricks to many to avoid pulling hair.

If you don't know, what you don't know,  how can you possibly know?

Fell in love with Blues music couple years back.  decided to learn to play guitar, 7 notes, how hard can it be? A B C D E F G  LOL  I still really suck after a year

I tell my guy's when they ask if this is good enough, "would you pay for it"? That usually takes care of that.

For me it was around 80 - 100 cars to be quite comfortable. Obviously it's different for everyone. 3 years into this job and there are still cars I dread!

The last video is the reason I'm now only getting 1-3 tiny specs of dust per drop glass. Great tutorial!

I use a white vinyl cut into strips for the tight felt sides. It is much smoother than most tape and of course use extra slip along with pattern cut exact.

If the customer is not happy or you would not be happy with it on your personal vehicle, needs to be redone.

    dirt/dust control
wet if not clean floors,  rinse car if dusty before tinting.  mist interior and ac/heat recirc, use cars cabin filter.  fan and filter for the shop while preping, shut off when you hang.
Under armour or other lint free wicking shirt to keep you lint free and dryer.  BDU army navy pants are lint free, water resistant and last for years compared to 6 months on jeans.  proper come with plastic belt and are metal free.  $40 in Michigan.  Merril water proof sneakers last and metal free.  I love my under armour, upgraded to their socks, underwear and jacket.  grow thumbs and 2 fingernails so you do not have to touch sticky stuff.

you can tint a dirty car in a dirty shop in dirty clothes.  just have to keep it from flying or falling into your film.   who'd of thunk,  geometry, gravity and electricity comprehension helps make you a better tinter.

See what you don't factor in is the time it takes you to tape, shrink, and fix creases.

i wish it were wider and i had the strength of hercules that would be the best solution. but there is no way for that to be mobile.

tried gasket wizard late 80's,  seemed more a PITA then anything.  it was better then 2 inch masking tape pieces trying to tape the gasket back.  learned how to tuck with my olfa knife.  there were no EZ-reach or fancy tools back then.   Last year I saw the Shank for the first time and fell in love.  On really tight seals I use the shank with an EZ-reach to force the film in.  I refer to that as the double F%&k.

Both, using dirt off along the bottom only. Film on to set the top and allow sides to slip.  make sense?

Honestly the equate Walmart brand isn't bad at all...it's like 2.84 for a bottle....my mixture is 1/3 of the bottle for every 4 gallons

every film is different. shrinking, sticking and elasticity. you dont have to shrink every door, but i do.    snapping the top makes you have to stretch the bottom leaving no fingers.  the system i follow let me turn a car an hour, sometimes two with an assistant.  the most profitable film is not the cheapest,  its the one that goes on fastest and does not come back.  10 to 50 more or less cost per roll is irrelevant compared to the extra cars/day income you will make.
