Do it your self'ers are buying from Ebay and Autozone. Most of the other big names dont need a minimum order either. After I did some leg work searching the web, there are alot of window film suppliers all over the web. I think VT's bussiness model is fine the way it is. Ok, here is a question for everyone... If you could purchase Lumar/SG/Lumar/Global/Suntek factory direct and save 35-40% by not going through a dist,,,,,,would you??? What are the pros of using a dist??

if my supplier had a minimum order, I probably wouldn't be in business :beer I'm small compared to a lot of people, and probably use 1 36" roll a week. I can't afford a 5k buy in or whatever the minimum would be

Should have busted out sum light also as that picture does not show me sh!t.maybe you should try a photography forum first then try again or were you a azz to them on there also.Or maybe stay with your Honda forum and golf forum you are on also.

I don't like suppliers who sale wholesale and retail without naming names I have a air bag company that sells both ways and you call to get your wholesale price and they are just a few pennys cheap than retail and we have to pay shipping and they retail customer doesn't. so what we buy retail to get the same deal the customer get then jack up the prices. I get all the time the customer see that they give free shipping on certain parts

I think it's not fair. I deal with a company called lowrider depot that sells all the air suspension parts train horns and lower kits I buy from they advertise in all the mags that they are wholesale only. and they don't compete with your customer thats the way it should be .

really tint supplyers should not sell to the public with out show docs that your a real business it hurts the local business

its like stepping on our feet to me poor business. if they want to sell the public market it through a auto parts store small boxes like 6 and 10 fet like gila does which is just junk film . not whole boxes of film. no customer should be able to buy the quality and grade of window film a tint shop does . I really think that no supplyer should be able to take your customer from you .

      Wet shrinking problems with certain windows

      Wet shrinking has advantages but it also has limitations. I'd learn a good dry shrink technique, then follow up with a wet check. You can get a lot more shrink into a piece doing it dry with a lot less stress on the film.

      hey everyone today i was tinting a BMW front windshield i don't remember which model. Anyways while shrinking fingers closer to the side edge it seems like it will end up creasing while i follow the wet shrinking process.       The Graphtech plotters are all about the same from 7000 to 8600. I doubt that the machine was the problem If changing software fixed the issue.

      Update to this.... We were using a Graphtec FC7000-100 plotter and the Digi Cut software and the machine wouldn't work correctly. We contacted Digi and they did a live modification on our software which solved the issue. Strange thing, the plotter would still never cut through the pattern consistently. (parts would cut totally through and parts would not cut even through the film) We switched to Core and instantly everything cut 100% consistent and without need for software modification. Perhaps if we had a newer plotter than the FC7000 perhaps the Digi would work as expected ??? Dunno

      What is an established commercial/residential business worth?

      I sold my business in '96 that had as assets: tools and inventory and goodwill. I bought it 2.5 years earlier for 5k. It had a gross sales # around 30K and very little goodwill since the owner only worked it part time. In the 2.5 years I ran the company, gross sales went from 30K upward to 177K as a one person operation. To be fair, the final year @ 177K included an installation sale involving 35K sq ft. Still I increased the gross from 30K to 100K under my direction in the 2.5 years of ownership. I sold the business in a short sale for 10K because I landed a corporate job at a film manufacturing company. I lacked the desire to further expand the business, but it was considered reputable even by my competitors. One of them bought it.
