Inductions....I'm over it.

Recommended Posts

Inductions, safe work method statements, ppe requirements, white cards, blue cards etc etc are all getting to be pretty standard at most larger corps or govt work these days. Don't even talk to me about mine site inductions.

There is always someone on site that can circumvent all this crap if necessary, usually the person that called you up in the first place. They are the ones that really needed the job done and will facilitate when they realise that you are ready to walk away.

Goin to "safety orientation " as they are called here has become the norm as companies become more safety conscious.

Some sites have things going on that you as the window film installer have absolutely no idea about that can kill you or put you in a world of legal hurt.

Ask if it will be a part of your install visit during the quote process and charge accordingly.

A few years ago I was at one for an international company.

First sentences out of the trainers mouth were " If you have any pics of females or male even of your wife or girlfriend/ boyfriend inside your toolbox you'd best go take them out NOW before I continue. We take sexual harassment very seriously. Any violation of this rule and you and every representative of your company will be escorted off the property. If you think there is not another company that does your trade in this world you are mistaken. "

Fuck that^^^

Did a one day induction to get onto the au barracks here.... Had to do spine exercises and all sorts.....

Must admit though, the more thorough inductions seem to carry the safest sites, and I'm always down for that. Considering someone dies nearly everyday on site in Australia, I do feel better when there's that one prick on who takes safety seriously..... Young under20's Dragons player died yesterday on site, happens more than you think and I got to applause the approach some companies are taking with their zero accident policies

Totally agree mate.

I had one two weeks ago who wanted us to provide all the usual docs, plus a site specific SWMS, and sit through a 60min induction...   ...for a $120 job.

I told them to spend a few minutes looking for another tinter instead.

Right on UT :cool ....  I can't be fagged with all that tish because whilst all that hoo haa is going on, I'm tinting Mrs. Muck's place with no drama, no pack drill and wheel barrowing the loot to the bank.

There are only a couple guys I'd like to shadow for a day or week.. :)  And you Dev are one. Even though I'm half a world away, I think what I'd be able to pick up from you in a few days would be worth their weight in gold.  :thumb

We do safety orientations on more commercial jobs than not. It's simply a matter of CYA. Cover your ass. The building owners need to know all safety regs are explained and understood. And a GC can be fined or fired for skipping the protocol. Chances are if it is a hard hat, glasses and steel toe boot job, there is a safety class before you touch anything. Also a OSHA certification requirement.
