Well I am not installing film any longer but, I did replace our dining area candelabra today that pulled a hundred and fifty watts for lighting. This stylish pendant light pull a smidgen over 25 watts (all inclusive).

    Thank you very much.

The new Quattroporte's are frameless now so it's much easier.

However I've done a couple of the older ones recently and they are a bit of a challenge but fun as well.
This one was with 3M Color Stable

    From Friday/Saturday

At the new Sushi Roku on Sunset in West Hollywood.

We've been at this location before when it was a different and a exterior white out on the windows.
This time around I was here to remove the white out on the entry doors and transit.

After that was the Installtion of a Solyx bronze frost supplied by the customers    on 16 windows
These windows are 75"x70" with button bracket cutouts whilst using a 48" roll. So a vertical seam was used. About 15 feet up with no floor to stand on, only the rafter beams. There was another guy originally on this job but his height restricted him to using a ladder which wouldn't work, at all lol. So I came since my height worked for this job.

Booms reacted to tinter101 in 2004-2010 5 series - unusual problem
Over the years we have determined that a problem can occur when tinting this vehicle.
We have had at least 4 customers over the years call us saying that a dash light has come on right after we tinted this car.
The light has something to do with the SRS safety restraint system and possibly the passenger side front more specifically.
The fix is a trip to the dealer to reset the code.
Why it happens we found out is when we are ready to install the back window tint, we normally move the seat all the way forward to make room getting in with  the large piece of film. Apparently when you move the passenger seat all the way forward, the wiring under the seat get stretched out and partially unplugs causing the problem.
So technically the owner of the car could move the seat all the way up to vaccuum and could cause this issue, we get blamed because we were the last ones in the car but it has nothing to do with tinting.
Hope this saves someone down the road.

Don't ya hate it when.....  A customer doesn't understand but thinks they do.  And then tells you that you are the one with a bad attitude

Some people just can't get it through their heads that a car does not come with "factory" tint on it.

Older lady comes in, says she wants tint.  Says she doesn't want anything illegal.  Fine. That leaves one choice.

Lady:  Can I see some samples.   Me:  Sure,  This is your legal limit. Anything else is illegal on a car.

Lady:  to husband...  How dark was your BMW? and How dark was so and so's car?   Husband:  I don't know?  The BMW came from the factory that way.  And so and so had it done here..   Lady:  Well, call so and so and see what he had put on his car.  Husband:  I thought you only wanted legal?
Lady:  I don't want it illegal.

Me:  Was the BMW a car or an SUV?  them:  It was a car and we bought brand new and it was tinted from the factory.

Me:  If it was a car and had tint on it when you bought it.  Then it was done after the dealership received it.  By a shop somewhere, not the factory.

Lady:  Well, I know what we bought and I'm not going to argue with you.   Husband:  Well are you going to go with illegal tint?  Lady:  No.

Me and Husband at the same time:  Well then you only have one choice.

The whole time I tried to be as nice as I could and explain everything correctly, but somehow, I wound up being the one in a bad mood with a bad attitude    At least that's what she told me. (I was actually just fine, and in a pretty good mood)
Sometimes people just can't handle being wrong.  I think I lost this battle before she ever hit the front door.

I guess it all depends......If You want QUALITY installs, You need a quality Tinter. And 12 bux an hour equals out to $480.00 a week. No thank You very much.

Little 600 ft2 flat glass job for a Saturday to end the week with. SolarGard True Vue5 on grey toughened glass for heat and glare control. 82% TSER and 94% Glare control...not too shabby.

XPEL still gets my vote. I tried a whole 24" roll of new 3M. Then a customer specifically asked for Xpel Ultimate. I ordered a roll in and could not believe how good it was and wondered why I ever used 3M. The Ventureshield 3M is still a better product IMHO. Sorry Todd (3M), I was soooooo hoping it would be better. Bottom line, it IS better than old 3M, but not better than Xpel Ultimate. The installation mix still is not working for me. I will say it is VERY clear, but tack lines and pull marks are still happening with the Pro and that is a killer on black and dark colors. I have had to recut several hoods because they looked wierd after I installed the film. This cuts into my profit and with the film already costing several hundred dollars, I have to ask myself if it is really worth it or not to offer 3M when I can't get it on and looking good the first time.

It is as close to indestructible that you will ever find in this industry.

Fair disclosure:  I am the exclusive distributor for Global in 25 of the US States.  They are also my main partners for our top shelf private label films, which I sell all over the world, including the most harsh and drastic climates on the planet.  You just cannot kill this product.

I have been involved in the industry since 1982.  I have witnessed and lived thru catastrophic failures.  I know that "bad runs" and "bad batches" are (for most people) just part of this game.  But since I started distributing Global (over 10 years ago) we have been waiting for the proverbial "other shoe to drop".  It has not happened.  Problems with these films are so rare, so isolated and so contained that they are mere "blips" on what can only be described as a stellar record.

No window film company will ever please everyone.  Not Global, 3M or even Llumar.  But if I were given a choice to pick from any manufacturer's products to have in our warehouse, I would pick Global without hesitating for a nanosecond.  When the phone rings, we want orders - repeat orders from happy customers.  Not complaints and not warranty claims.  That is what we have with these Global films.  No, they are not perfect (no window film is) but Global is as good as you are going to get.

The reason for it?  Global remains (to this day) the only window film company that is producing these products starting at the molecular level.  So many window film manufacturers are really just coating & laminating companies.  Not Global.  These guys are petrochemical engineers whose understanding of this material is far deeper than any other team.

Are there other fine brands on the market?  You bet.  But if you have not given Global a chance, give your regional distributor a call today and order up a few rolls of QDP, CHP or the absolutely phenomenal QDP Ceramic.  You will be able to feel the quality as soon as you put your hands on it and aim your heat gun at it.  It's beautiful to look at, work with and it will probably last at least as long as your customer owns the vehicle - not matter how harsh your climate zone.

You just answered Your own question. The lowest price usually denotes one of two things. Inferior film, or an inexperienced installer. If You got really bad luck you'll get both for that low, low price. Good luck to You.
