Jake got a reaction from TNTLady in Dealership Terms
Every dealer is different in how they run it, and what department sells and manages it. It will take multiple times going back in to find the right person to talk with . Persistence is key. A large percentage of my revenue has come from dealer work over my years. It has provided my family and a I a good living. Notice I said living and not lifestyle. I have worked my guts out and been a slave to the accounts. I am now starting to slowly back out of the dealerships and plan to go as much retail as possible. I would give in way to much for them, and they will keep pushing for more. I am not saying they can't be good. Just stand your ground and don't give an inch or they will try to take you for a 100 miles.Learn to say no when you need to . That is/was my problem. Sorry to rant. Just some advice from some years in the biz.

If you not in the film world it reads like this. Just a couple deletions and your paragraph takes a whole new meaning.

. It slips in there without lube, and when you pull it out you have to slide out to the side so you dont pull up.  I also use the long white strip . Hard to get pressure back there so must make sure to get it all and use enough slip in the mounting solution so nothing sets prematurely.

I have always been into cars. I took my car into get tinted and hit it off with they guy. Told him I wanted to work on cars. Started working with him 2 weeks later. About a year went by,and myself and the other tinter took over the shop after the owner wanted to move on. That was 17 or so years ago.

I have had this happen a couple times also. Luckily they were for the dealership and they took care of it. Now I am very careful with the amount of water I use. I put paper towels in the bottom to soak up water when squeegeeing. Then I use a hard card and paper towel to push the water out of the film to the side letting the paper towel soak up the water best as possible. Have not had a problem sense. I do a decent amount of them

Exactly. Same goes for window film. If no ever tried anything new we would all be using the first gen of everything. Accelerated weathering machines are the only thing that really gives some type of a indication of longevity. But it is still not real world. The best thing we have is keeping each other up to date on our experiences with new films. That is why a place like Tintdude is so valuable to our industry. Every film goes through this when it comes out. People are skeptical, and rightly so. The install shop is the face of the product and when it goes bad it can wreak havoc on you and your reputation. So far I like the S-tek.Like any new film I use I will keep a close eye on how it is holding up.

I would also just use the hard hard card with no paper towel. It will slide on the film liner much smoother, and lessen the risk of running over the film and creasing it.

Bringing this thread back from the dead.I had another bubble back Capri come in to do. I'm pretty selective on cars I do. I tell my guy's "don't take in anything older then 2000 with out checking with me firs"t. haha. But I am a fox body mustang guy so I feel obligated to do them from our local mustang club. Not sure what the deal was with this one. The one I did in the first post was 1 piece 40" role. This one the 40" was a hair to small to cover the glass. So I 2 pieced it. Still turned out great. It has been a lot of years since I have done a 2 piece. I guess it pays off sometimes to have been tinting for so long. Get to pull out the old bag of trick once in a while.
