Blackwolftinting got a reaction from Long027 in White specs BG. Help!
Invest in a scrubber(a long handle with Velcro to attach a white scrubby pad). Use to that scrub the entire BG very well. Use a paper towel or rag to wipe both sides of the c-pillar, to make sure any dirt is off. Properly squeegee the bg once it’s scrubbed, DO NOT HIT THE TOP OF THE HEADLINER. Get a side swiper (or something like it) to get the bottom edge squeegeed off on your final pass. Final spray on the BG should flush the entire bottom, and the sides from top to bottom. Avoid spraying about 1”-2” from the top of the bg. Then you lay the film in. Hope that helps. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yes. Every time my squeegee comes off the glass or a piece of film I wipe it. Spending the extra 45-60 seconds(total per job) prevents 5-10 minutes of having to redo a window. You’re not racing a clock, you’re trying to give your customers a professional installation.

They called me and I told them I wasn’t at all interested in their film. The girl said ok and told me to have a nice day. I liked that. She wasn’t pushy or nasty. I still don’t want their film, but the girl on the phone wasn’t an asshole. So that’s what merited my comment, and all I have to say about Xsun.

If you are working for a dealer in their building and have no skin in the game..as far as expenses go. All you are is a laborer. Same as a car detailer. Your pay will likely be in line with what people in your area make to roll paint onto walls, mow grass, vacuume carpets or wash cars.

I do a little dealer work, but only for salesman that want quality. And I tell them to pass my number on to their customer. So it keeps it strictly retail. Even used car lots I won’t budge on my price. They keep sending me work. It’s not a lot, but it’s recurring. Screw net 30. Screw having to set aside a $300 job for a $100 job. Screw pushy salesman that don’t even know what they’re selling. I’m lucky in that I don’t need to push dealer work, retail keeps me busy enough.

I did a Miata that sounds similar to that. I had to cut the defroster on the outside, then thread the wires through the precut holes in the film. The wires were soldered to the glass and then plugged in under a loop of material on the top . It came out fine. I didn’t bother taking any pics of the rear glass. I never do. But if they’re giving you issues, just bid them really high. If the custy goes for it, you’ll get your moneys worth. If they don’t, at least they won’t feel you’re inexperienced. Just a thought.

These plus a remove/replace on the sides of a ‘14 Focus ST. Didn’t bother taking pics of the Focus since it wasn’t 100% my tint job.

My guess it has more to do with the installer rather than the film. Really doubt those ladies could determine a “bad batch” over the phone.

My best advice as a window tinter with 24 years of experience: Stop. Put down the window tint and tools. Run for your life. DO NOT quit your day job. Sometimes I think about throwing everything in the garbage and getting a job flipping burgers or selling women’s shoes. It would be much less stressful.
