TQtinting reacted to MaxxedOutTint in Average width for windshield strips
For me it all really depends on the vehicle, some most people for me what the strip right at the bottom of the mirror, a few want it lower an a few less want it the same size as the factory “blue” strip that’s already up there. I’d say 8-10 inches is pretty standard for me

I use an 8” roll for visors and save any scraps that can do a visor.

I have 10" film for windshield strips. That's the most anyone gets anymore.

Imagine cleaning all the mess up at the bottom of the window.
Pretty cool though! Never knew that was a thing.

TQtinting reacted to no ma'am in Torching glass on matrix?
Yep I use lulu at work and this is what I've done for years. Say you want the dots on a frameless beemer door to stick get the top stuck using this method and a torch and then a heat gun down at the bottom, for this to work well your patterns really need to cover the dots on the side. The bottom I roll my cut up just enough that it's not deep in the seal as to keep it from soaking up more solution and never sticking.

TQtinting got a reaction from quality tintz in Fusion all type slip solution?
I went thru about a whole bottle of the fusion solution now and it never seemed any different than Johnson’s baby shampoo. And you’re right def have to use a lot of it. I’ve heard quite a few people mention 7th Generation brand dish soap my wife buys it all the time but I’ve never tried it.

Yep what Bham said. That’s a Viper remote start/alarm antenna.

Make sure not to push the button on the front and do not unplug it. Remove it from the windshield carefully with a bone tool or a thin hard card. Remove old tape from the back and get some double sided tape from the parts house and put new tape on the back where the old tape was. After tinting the front strip or windshield,, reapply in the same spot without twisting or turning as you apply it. It should be just fine.

TQtinting got a reaction from Tint Slayer in Tinting friends and coworkers rides
I started on junkyard car doors in my utility room at my house. Bought a 100ft roll of some cheap film did about 4 or 5 family cars. Watched more YouTube videos than I can think of and away I went. I won’t do anything I know I can’t tackle and I’ve prob got about 50 cars under my belt now. More than likely will attend a training course this coming summer.
Just go for it but be smart.

You make a good point. I could see that happening. I’ve always gotten super clean work this way. If it ever back fired on me I wouldn’t know it yet. But it makes sense.

One time I tinted a Jeep Renegade or as I liked to call it at the time the “ dog hair Jeep from hell”
and i misted the air, the cab of vehicle, and myself lightly and I could see dog hair floating in the air fall straight to the ground.
I do all of these things before I ever even peel my liner I know for fact it’s made my work cleaner with less F ups.

TQtinting reacted to DynamicATL in “Adverising” film removal
I don't advertise removing or "fixing" poor quality tint jobs because I don't want to get a bunch of removals. As far as I am concerned, all those customers can go to another shop. The few we do get, our price scares most of them away so maybe do 1 a month. However, I do take photos of failed tint jobs as I see them on the road and post those to remind people not to get cheap window tint. So use it as more of a preventative than offering to replace it.

Those both look like good professional business boosters.
I thought about wording mine “stay away from the auto parts tint jobs!” Because I know a few guys around screwing people. Charging shop rates to tint someone’s car with Gila. Maybe they should do some research first I guess
