I said wow...it must have been me that did them back then. there were only 2 of us tinting back then. he says..........."well then YOU did a shiatty job" amazingly he says he purchased a lifetime warranty from us back then. I told him no paperwork no warranty of course. he had no paperwork. he was cool. we're redoing it next week.

Well, the Olympics are going on again. I just got my first call of the season. This time it was from my brother instead of one of my friends. "OMFG dude! You look just like this speed skater named Apolo!" Yeah, heard it before. Until this dude breaks his leg or something I'll have to hear it every 4 years until 2022. Well, you decide:

SolarGard HP Ch. Orangepeel effect? 1 2 3 4
by Guest Key West- 30 replies
- 3.5k views
I've recently noticed that the sg hp char on my driver and passenger windows have an ever worsening "orangepeel" look to them. Anyone else notice this? Almost loke the adhesive is crystallising. This is MY car, done with a sample roll sent to me about 2 years ago. I dumped SG after the initial debacle of NoShrink when Bekaert first took over. I used thier film since they were DTI and never had a problem until Bekaert took over. The sample roll shrank well, so I switched back. If this is going to be a problem, I shudder to think how many customer cars are out there with this film!

A new twist on the old Abbott & Costello routine: You have to be old enough to remember Abbott and Costello, and too old to REALLY understand computers, to fully appreciate this. For those of us who sometimes get flustered by our computers, please read on... If Bud Abbott and Lou Costello were alive today, their infamous sketch, "Who's on First?" might have turned out something like this: COSTELLO CALLS TO BUY A COMPUTER FROM ABBOTT ABBOTT: Super Duper computer store. Can I help you? COSTELLO: Thanks. I'm setting up an office in my den and I'm thinking about buying a computer. ABBOTT: Mac? COSTELLO: No, the name's Lou. ABBOTT: Your computer? C…

DOW CORNING APPL.To Store Front Door
by Guest HalifaxBob- 0 replies

OK, pretty new at this but I have some people that have worked with security film for a few years and will be installing. The subject of the front glass doors come up all the time, you know the kind that are normally found at a strip mall or a row of commercial business warehouses, etc. I saw one job that was just done and the film ( I don't know what thickness) was placed on and done to the edge of the inner mouldings. Then the installer/s put the dow Corning on over the film and onto the moulding itself. I thought that the best was was to remove the mouldings, film to almost the edge of the glass, put the dow corning on, and then put the moulding back on so that if t…

LEARN TO PAY ATTENTION! First-year students at Texas A&M's Vet School were receiving their first anatomy class, with a real dead cow. They all gathered around the surgery table with the body covered with a white sheet. The professor started the class by telling them, "In vet medicine, it is necessary to have two important qualities as a doctor: The first is that you not be disgusted by anything involving the animal body. For an example, the Professor pulled back the sheet, stuck his finger in the butt of the dead cow, withdrew it and stuck it in his mouth. "Go ahead and do the same thing," he told his students. The students freaked out, hesitated for several mi…

2006 Accord Coupe recommendations
by Guest Joyride- 8 replies
- 1.2k views
Hi all, I have a black 2006 Honda Accord Coupe that I'm going to get tinted. I'm wondering if I should tell the guy at the shop to cut the film short on the rear window for the dot matrix? The bubbling will drive me crazy so I think I'd almost rather it just be cut short. How bad will this look? Will he be able to put a peice of black vinyl over the matrix to make it look better? How good does that look? Also, I'm thinking about only going down to 50% to keep it legal, plus (I may be wrong) but I think that the "outline" around the windows (due to ceramic dots) is less noticable with lighter tint. Am I crazy for thinking that? Will 50% even look noticably darker…

contamination trouble

I have more problems than others since you guys run shops and get mostly nice cars, but I get some loser-mobile's on the weekend . here's my idea: get an extra drop cloth (only works on side doors, you're still screwed on back glass), open the door you're about to work on, and lay it over the open area where door was so it covers entire doorway, and tape it right above weatherstrip. I thought of this while I was sitting in a nasty a$$ dirty interior in the sunlight about to move the car, and could see sh!t floating through the air that shouldn't have been. I think it actually helped me, maybe it would help some of you

Long Arm Of the IRS....
by Guest LindsayTint- 5 replies

I read a previous post on here and really didnt get the whole answer. I have been charging my customers sales tax like Uncle Sam says so. But I read on a previous post on here that some of you guys "give away the tint for free" and just charge for the labor to install it. Since it is a construction contract (residential/commercial only) there is no tax on labor. My question is, is this really legal? I called my state tax authority and they stated that if I buy the tint and install it I have to charge them tax. I asked them if I pay my distributor tax on the item (which I dont) then can I get away with not charging customers tax and he said you arent supposed to do …

Has anyone tried these guys?
by Guest Stratusrtrida- 4 replies

I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried out wholesale tinting? I know that this film is junk compared to films like suntek or llumar but I was just curious if anyone has tried them? I bought some about 4 years ago and put it on my car. It still looks pretty good. The color did change slightly over the 4 years but all and all its not bad for the price. I was just throwing it out there for some new guys on here that want to just practice and don't want to spend too much or buy something not even worth buying. I think this is a good happy medium. I was also curious as to haw many people have actually used them in the past? thanks, Nick

I recently did a house with silicone around the edges of all the windows. its always frustrating for me to get the last few pieces off even after scraping and wiping, etc. a few little pieces will stick to the frame and glass. I used a paper towel with a dab of alcohol to do the final edge wipe and every speck of silicone that was left rolled right off the glass. this sped the install up quite a bit. does anyone else do this? hope the tip helps.

California legal tint 1 2
by Guest DayDreamer- 18 replies

Hello, I was wondering if there is such a thing as a california legal tint for the front windows? Some people say as long it's 70% light transmission, others say it's !llegal to put any tint on the front windows. I'm confused. Also, what tint would you recommend for a 1. 2005 black Boxster? 2. 2006 white TSX? Assuming I want to keep everything legal and nonfading? (no navigation on either car) Thanks for any advice.

How dark should I go?

I just bought a 2005 Malibu classic 4-dr. I would like to get my windows tinted and having trouble deciding how dark. If I could get some recommendations from you I would appreciate it. I don?t want to get too dark that you can?t see outside at night. What is the average tint that is applied to a vehicle? Will a professional tint last for the life of the vehicle?
