That is pretty small and won't have much weight. Weight would help pull the liner off. You can alto put a broom handle in the roll to add weight. .. But again, that is small enough that it should be easy enough to just peal and stick

Reverse roll works fine on PS but you can't drop it in most cases. The only problem that you have to worry about is the roll back spooling half way down.....or coming unspooled all together. Then you have to peel half the liner while its on the glass which is a bitch.

Before you start peeling the liner unroll about 10 inches and wet the film, then roll up and start your reverse roll. It will help the liner grab the film better, if there isn't enough static to hold it, and may prevent it from falling down and causing it to unspool. Then it's a matter of walking it down the whole way, some PS films hold a roll better than others so you may have not be able to just let the roll go and adjust the film.  :twocents

The drop technique (When the film drops at pace) works for films that contain a BOPP liner. (biaxially oriented polypropelene)

It is different to the conventional polyester liner, and will fall away from dry adhesive very easily.

Johnsons FG films contain this liner, along with a few others, but because it is more expensive to have made, it has been dropped by quite a few or the manny's. Films that contain the BOPP liner can also be rolled up very tightly for long periods of time without tunneling. Hence the popularity of the Johnson pre-cut program.

Cheers

We have very good results drop rolling Vista / Lulu film. We have also used another big name mfr and had horrible experiences with large rolls stopping 1/3 or 1/2 way down the drop, and then unspooling at a angle. That caused us hours and hours more time.

Pre-cut a Clean piece of film 1" wider and longer then the size of the window and roll the film up with the liner side out, clean and prep the window for install then lightly mist the center of the glass without getting the top and sides of the gasket's and frame wet, place the film on the window with the film overlapping the frame on all sides 1/2" and then mist the liner and then remove it and wet the adhesive, turn it and apply the film.
