I just found the best answer, so far, to the peanut problem plaguing the Dodge rear window.

Normally I will use #3 steel wool w/soap and water, microfiber wipe, mist, squeegee, 70% alcohol, squeegee, flush, squeegee, flush and lay film.

A few days ago the alcohol was out of reach and I picked up a bottle of 15% Rapid Tac/85% water and the film stuck down better than ever. I thought it was a fluke and tried it again on a windshield and got the same results.

Rapid Tac is usually used as a surface prep cleaning solution for vinyl graphics and also good for wet applications of factory truck bedside graphics, think FX4 and TRD logos.

Sometimes I win by accident, this was one of those times. I hope this helps everyone else win as well.

Unfortunately mobile work is very difficult to get correct, as previously stated, and most guys offering mobile services are otherwise unemployable, like the clown that keeps showing up in this thread.

That is a rather bad install.  Could definitely be better BUT being that this is a mobile install it is going to be tough getting done any better. Some mobile installers can do a decent job but not in most cases.  Uncontrolled environment creates horrible installs.  Assuming it is winter wherever you are, having it redone could lead to just about the same quality of install if it is redone mobile.

Lots of good advice in this thread. Years ago I did direct marketing mailers, 4x6 postcards to targeted zip codes. They worked pretty good but needed to be sent out every six weeks, three times total per season starting mid March.

One of the best bits of advice was from a long time industry guy who told me to lower my price on fulls by $10 and offer with no warranty, at the same time raising my price by $25 for a lifetime warranty. At the time, 20yrs ago, I was at $150. You wouldn't believe how many people took the job at $175 because they were thinking past the sale.

For those that wanted the warranty and a discount I would tell them I would package three similar cars for $500 and add in a visir strip for the first car. The customer then became my salesman. I proceeded to offer upgraded film and visors to the remaining two people that he brought in.

Used car lots were a good place to run the three car discount as well.

Another good trick up my sleeve was to go in to a buisness while the sun was blazing in the glass either early or late day and ask if they wanted to cool it off. That worked pretty good.

There are so many good hustles if you can get into the mind of what someone actually needs. Radical Service was a good book related to the idea of sourcing and retaining good customers.

    I'd call that a win.
It's really down to just luck of the draw depending on how the water chooses to drain down the channels.

Some of the back windows on the euro cars are just as bad with the modules hidden behind the panels in front of the rear wheels, under the rear package trays.

Ridiculous that cars are built like that knowing that so many are going to get tinted, but hey, they saved a dollar on the connectors.

The only glass I have ever broke has been ford windshields and its been a handful.  The tools work 95% of the time, its the other 5% when you want to just kick the mirror through the windshield.

As soon as I read Ford F350, I knew it was the rear view mirror. We broke one a few years ago. Even with the removal tool, it is a PITA. Now we do not remove any Ford rear view mirrors. Just slit the film to go around the base and seem them together on top.

30% conversion rate on leads to sales is the floor, not the ceiling. Someone who knows that industry well could easily double that while up selling the tickets with other related services.

10% commission plus base pay? In order to pay someone 16 it likely will cost the employer around 21. Add the commission and you would be asking for 70k year which is likely not going to happen unless/until you can broker fleet accounts and turn up the volume as an outside sales rep.

Take a look at the company as a whole. Total inputs/outputs. How much would you allocate to payroll, materials, advertising, utilities, location and insurance out of 100% and maintain enough profit, after tax of course, to justify the carry cost?

As Dano posted, the wipers WILL scratch it after time no matter what.  The slightest bit of grit on the wiper blade will leave line.  Clearplex has the best scratchcoat but it still is shit after 9 months of daily driving in the mountains.

I knew a guy who installed a whole fleet of cars for a city gov and lost his ass from the wipers scratching the heck out of it in 2014/15.

I haven't heard anything else about that type of product ever since. It's so dusty out west I would be surprised if it would work out here. If it did, I could make a fortune installing it. Maybe the products have gotten better, somehow I doubt it.
