please see page 3.   The tinter asked for a chance to redo my tint and I accepted.  I was extremely happy with the outcome.

Sweet! Those dingers really bother some folks. I've been doing a bunch of random lot crap like that lately. Got some hail work from the next county over starting to trickle over. Hopefully it's not smashed and I can book it without a bodyshop.

30+ year veteran here & I agree with the above opinions. Looks solid to me in fact I would say it is as good as or even better than most. As mentioned if there is trash in the film that is one thing but it looks clean to me. The slight difference where it was very minimally uneven is not enough to worry about. Relax and enjoy your window film.

If they use a pre-cut pattern then they obviously don't have control over how the edge will turn out unless they were to try and alter it after the fact. Generally if they use pre-cut patterns, they may have difficulty hand-cutting or opt out not to due it for their own reasons. Personally I think you're being too anal about something you normally never see when your window is rolled all the way up. Not enough of an edge gap to be an issue, especially if it's a clean install.

Small one i did for the service manager at a dealership I service. On the bedside, removed the tail light and had perfect access.

I've heard that argument many times and avoid doing sunroofs as much as possible, but not for that reason.

If the glass breaks I'm going to get blamed no matter what. I've spoken to a couple of glass guys and was told that most of the time its a factory flaw somewhere in the glass or on the edge that causes a stress fracture.

The rubber cut is on the inside not outside so it is odd to be the Tinter that did that.  Lots of frameless cars are bad about the glass going too high and tearing just like this...

If you need to burn up a balance sheet, by all means by a new one. I think the best iterations of that machine was the 8000 and 8600. You might find one used for 1/3 or sometimes less of the cost of new. I have two that I've run pretty hard for years and are still running daily. Aside from blades and a cut strip there's not much to go wrong.

I used a 9000 helping out another shop for a few days and wasn't impressed for some reason. Might have been the features layout or knowing that I would be paying more for a swoopy, plastic redesign.

Wow, jobs like that really give tinting a bad name. Not sure what caused the scratch, but I think you are right about it being them.

Yeah, they should have cleaned up the seats and shelf after.

The last picture is adhesive that was left behind from the first job they removed.

What a hack job. I wouldn't let them work on it again.

I stayed pretty high today...about 7.5' pushing hail (15ish 1/2dollars and plenty of smaller) out of the top of this van. Pushing on pannels at a 45° is pretty goofy. I'll post up some finished product pics after I get it put back together.

I did manage to stay on scaffold without backing up while trying to find more leverage. I'm calling that a win so far.

More likely to be the glass than the film.
After working in the autoglass industry for many years you see lots of cases of what you're describing.
Film wouldn't be thick enough to be the source of the visible bending that you can see.

That's likely a $30 to $40 part. Takes 10 minutes to replace. If you work on enough cars eventually something won't go well. Look up the part at your local dealership and ask the tint shop to order and replace it. Not a big deal.

Diablo's Tint reacted to Tint Slayer in Opening new tint shop...need all the advice that I can get.
You should work for someone or get some training. Call Xpel and ask for training and guidance, you can learn tint and more from them and i've heard the classes are good and they'll offer you guidance in the hopes you'll use their product which is a good thing.
You should know what your doing before opening a shop, would you go to mechanic with no experience? It's not fair to the customer to be your guinea pig.
If you are going to open a place anyway, hire someone who can show you what to do, because from what i just read you don't, and all the comments in the world won't make you do a clean a job from the get go.
My 2 cents bro, good luck in your endeavor.

Diablo's Tint reacted to TintDude in Is this damage/stain from tinting? (Need help)
That's strange. We don't use anything that would cause those kinds of stains during tinting, just soapy water. So what ever happened, I doubt it was a direct result of that door being tinted under any normal circumstances.

Thought I would put some fresh energy in this corner of the forum.

This was a sweet goose egg when I started. Went around and freshened up the rest of the pannels after the hood was finished.

Who's next? Gotta be some more pannel pounders on the TD
