whitehog got a reaction from Tint Slayer in Age of SolarFX?
Hello @PlaceToTint, I hope that you are having a fantastic day.

I have not commented as of yet per your original request when you made the original post to hear from only actual users of the SolarFX films. As several have already stated, we do have non-disclosure agreements with our builders that forbid us to disclose who or where our products are manufactured. The best I can tell you is that we are using the best quality components that are available in every aspect of our films production. All of our FX modeled products, like CarbonFX, are of the highest quality and built to last a very long time. We are a 44 year old company and don't have any intentions of going away anytime soon. We have worked very hard at forging a name for SolarFX in the window film industry and feel that we have done a good job so far. We may not be the "oldest" film brand in the world but we certainly offer some of the best customer service in the industry. Which film company were you using before that went out of business recently? I don't know of any companies recently that are no longer in the film industry.

As @Ryker and @DynamicAppearance have stated, what's important is that you have a high quality product with a company that backs the product should there be an issue with any of the films. I wonder if any of your customers that want to know "where" the film is made ask the same question about the nails that are being used to construct their house, or where the fuel filter or oil filter that is used in their car are manufactured? Probably not, they generally don't even know what brand of filter is even being used in their car.

PlaceToTint, we would be honored to be your film brand of choice should you so choose to continue with our window films. If you choose to go with Suntek's films, I can assure you that they have high quality films also and are also a quality brand. If you have any questions that I may be able to answer feel free to give me a call. I am in the office M-F 8am-5pm Central time.

Just mixed to test on ppf and it work perfectly ....had to play around with the mix for the hot humid Houston climate....I end up putting 14ml to 1 gallon of RO water to get that perfect mixed. When I squeegee the film with my yellow turbo it stick instantly....did a full front on a X5 today with it.

This will be my go to slip from now on....Im sick and tried of cleaning my bottle and pressure tank every morning.

How many oz you recommend in Houston humid hot weather....I like a lot of slip because we remove sweep or door panel for most of our install.... Also....we are pulling in vehicle into our tint bay that been sitting in the sun. I will be coming by Monday to get a gallon to try out.  I still have a gallon of the green slim that been sitting since last year.

Thank you everyone for all the kind heartfelt well wishes. Hit the ground running today and was so blessed that a close friend and his son work for a great establishment that got the ball rolling on clearing things out of what is left of my shop. I bigger crew will come tomorrow to finish removal of personal things after shoring up and lifting the steel carefully. Insurance adjuster came and declared it a total lost and promised a check to get me up and going quickly again. So many of my business friends and customers rushed to come help, hug support us through it all. I was overwhelmed. Now we are going to try and get some more sleep although we are under another tornado threat this eve. Thanks again. God Bless you ALL!

So far So good.     My first install with the new Ultra went well.  Only did a set of doors but didn't have any problems.

I mixed 2.5oz to 4 gal. of water.  That is half a gallon of water more than I normally mix at a time.  Seemed to work out well.

Can't wait to try it on a full car with the backglass.

    to be continued........

If you want to maximize your profit while offering the same technologies, Global and SolarFX would be great.  You could undercut the more expensive film shops a touch.  If you want to compete with them on brand, Huper would probably be the only option.  Madico is another great option, but a less known name however Wincos is a great film along with Charcool.

Yes, I just checked the sample bottles. The sample bottles do say 2oz per gallon, not sure why. I'd go with the 1oz first and see what you get.

The sample bottles are printed different.  They say 2fl.oz. per gal..  Don't have time for a pic at the moment.

I'm gonna go with the same exact measurements that I use on the green; and go from there.

Following up on the Ultra Tint Slime. We used to the first time last week. We mixed 5.25oz or so in a 5gal jug. After using it Friday and Saturday I have to say this stuff is GREAT! Very slick, but once you make your first pass where you want to lay the film its not going anywhere. Its very consistant with the way we mixed it. It will probably differ from climate to climate. our shop stays at about 75 degrees. We are also using very aggressive adhesive film. the smell of the Slime is pleasant too.

So now its monday and we made our last mix Saturday morning, shook the jug, filled our sprayers up, did a few cars this morning and no trouble at all with the consistency of the slip. Didnt lose its slip at all. We will probably be doing a video review of the product as well. when we do so ill be sure to leave a link. If anyone has anymore questions about the Slime please feel free to ask!

    Good Luck Tint Friends!

the lighter the % the more the color will be off. 70% has an olive hue to it but i only put that over factory privacy so no issues there. the 18% looks perfect for factory matching imo. this is 18/70

Really enjoy using this film pretty much has the lowest amount of low angle haze I've seen in a ceramic. Coloring on the 40 meh could be a little better but no complaints and my customers love the heat rejection. Corolla done today in the 40%

I also talked to them at SEMA about pattern quality, they claimed their patterns are 'as good as DAP'. The guy I talked to said they do full-car patterns for EVERY car they have in their database.
Also, they do interior patterns, like for the center console and scratch-prone interior trim.

I cant vouch for or against them until I get the film and patterns in my hands to try, but I did like the pitch.

Thank you for trying out our films JH. I know that Howard and Express have excellent quality window films. You are right, if the EWF brand of window films are working for you and your marketplace than stick with them.
Thank you for the shout out Bham, I greatly appreciate your vote of confidence in our products.

Howard, please accept my apologies for chiming in on your thread. You have a great company and great products for sure!!
