CaliTINT got a reaction from TNTLady in Sedan vs Crossover pricing
Agreed. I price crossovers the same as sedans. I think most of the time many crossovers are way easier and use a bit less material (back window) than a sedan.

On another note, for most coupes and sedans I also price those the same. I feel like on average, most of the back windows on coupes are a bit bigger and more difficult to shrink. Also, the front side window door windows are a bit longer and on some cars frameless. So for simplicity I charge them the same. I don't count windows that much more on cars anymore unless maybe bump the price up a bit for a car than has 9 windows versus 5-7. And I hardly play the how many windows game with customers because many time they act like we shouldn't be charging extra for the small windows even though we all know some of them are PITA!

I use 409 on all that, but it's just my preference. I agree with @redneckj about using the water alone, no soap on the market will tell you to rinse with more soap, be it dish liquid or shampoo, the soap catches the dirt and is to be wiped or rinsed away with water. So he made a great point and i'm going to start doing what he said.

Interesting. Never heard of this. I only use sprayaway for scrubbing the back window and cleaning seals and surrounding areas on the side windows.

Thats the reason i kept charging more. Also, if all your competetors charge extra and you dont its lost profit.  I guess we have to consider our competetors pricing to some extent.  In reality the sedan should be more, but fact is nobody charges that way.  In years to come im sure it’ll change.  I may consider charging slighly more for a 7 window crossover. Id take a 7 window Ford Escape over a 7 window Ford Focus any day.

I hate them Jettas too! Yeah lots of times I usually add that extra charge for certain vehicles like the Jetta or any that I know will be PITA or extra work.

Getting more money I why I was pricing higher. Its just that there are many more small crossovers today. Pricing the same i think i get more of them.

I try to charge the same for each vehicle, but will charge more for if the vehicle is much more difficlult. A good example would be VW Jettas and Passats, which take me much longer than your average sedan. Last Jetta i did, i said i was going to stop tinting them!

same goes with difficulty level, lets say i charge 495 for 7 windows on an audi s4 which takes me 2 hours to do , I also charge 495 for a kia optima which takes me 1hour to do and much easier. I win some and lose some. Hope most the time I win.

Seems many still price them much more.  IMO, this is pricing from over 10 years ago when SUVs had 9 windows and required a 22” roll for rollups. Did an 19’ Equinox the other day and pulled a 40” roll slightly larger than the BG. Then used the fall off for both rear rollups.

I'm about the same, imo they're easier to do so I don't see a need in charging more. Film usage has to be close to the same when you think about it. The half windows in the back will most of the time stack on top of the back glass so none extra used. Also I can do those quicker given most have privacy glass and you don't have to worry as much.

IMO I would price the Sedan option where you want it, then go higher on the crossovers/SUVs.  Even though the number of windows can be the same or the size of the windows could be smaller, the perception is it is a larger vehicle so more money.  We have 3 main price options...Coupe, Sedan, SUV/Truck.  We charge the same for a single cab truck as a crew cab.  We charge the same for a Mercedes E Class coupe as a Mazda Miata.  I look at it is may lose here and there, but then you gain on others.

If you bought it off another shop and not from the manufacturer or distributor you will not be an "authorized dealer" therefore you can't warranty your films through Llumar.  You are pretty much SOL unless you can go the Select Pro Dealer route like Dynamic mentioned. Try finding another film to love.

They gave me some samples, haven't decided myself personally about using them.

CaliTINT reacted to pbalentine in 19 Lexus ES350 changes
Lexus really changed it up. First off, you cant trim rubber on rear 1/4s. Front door panels are just 3 screws still, but one isnt under the small piece of carpet material, its right above it on the side of the panel under a plastic trim piece. The door panel gaskets come off the panel now, so no more struggling to get panel back on. I tucked the rears and dropped the fronts.

Yeah my first one I failed twice! Then I read a post here that said someone anchors down the middle. No need to shrink the middle area just the humps on the left and right. Don't worry about getting it to where the whole window lays flat. It won't happen as the film will keep popping up. Just get a good shrink in there and should be good to lay
