Yeah man you're best off to cut your losses on that one. He obviously isn't a so called "friend" and caress more about the car than he does y'alls relationship. If I'm in that situation I would have someone besides egg head diagnose the rear defrost, if the glass needs replacing do so. Doing work for those buddies that always expect discounts and want everything to be absolutely perfect is frustrating. If I'm in your shoes the next time he ask for a price on something he gets full price. He's obviously demanding and needs to be treated as such. 

The stuff behind the truck made me think the windows were busted.

If you start out low, you will be stuck with that clientele and as soon as you increase the price, they will go to the next cheap spot.  Cheap prices bring pickier people and older vehicles along with more removals of other cheap films.  We started like this and it was a struggle to get to where are now.  Part of the reason we were able to get from that level to now was we increased the quality and brand of the film as we went up.  So an increase in price was justified because the product changed for the better.  In your case, 3M is already seen as the best in many customers eyes simply because they recognize the name.  So it will be much harder to explain why you increased the price when you already carried the "best".  There will be a struggle for some time, but if you really market your shop online to stand out, the customers will eventually come.  It is all about what you can offer that the other shops don't.  Once they come, then it is up to your customer service and installation quality to keep them coming back.

either use a small file or learn to shave with an olfa blade..i usually heat up the window with a torch squeeze out the water and then hit it with my blade

These are samples of my hobby.
The custom shutters for the house were the simplest using PVC planks.
The dining table has interchangeable top; if we tire of the Barnwood look the trim can be removed and planks replaced with another type laminate flooring.
The deck swing bench has a recycled umbrella canvas for shade and the cup holders are recycled track-light fixture covers.😁

People ask me that all the time. I work 6 days a week just about every week, couple that with a family doesn't leave much time for other things. In another life I used to enjoy working out a lot but that's since left.

Had a guy complain about a passenger rollup like 3 months later.  He said the wife saw something on it.  I wanted to tell him to take his balls out of his wifes purse and take charge! 

I have found this to be true also. High end exotics customer seem to be pretty happy and cool for the most part. They don't sweat the small stuff as much. I account this to them having bigger things to worry about. Also when you get to a certain level of car you really can't stretch your self to get one. Meaning they didn't put their lively hood on the line to afford it. Now when you get into the mid level stuff like vett's and M3/M5's and the such, watch out, your in for some inspector gadget stuff.
