Tint Slayer got a reaction from quality tintz in More Slip when using Global?
Been wanting to try the Tint Slime but I was wondering why everyone seems to still mix it with another slip like JnJ etc, is it not good enough on it's own? Why have more than one slip product?

28in GW and was tight but slid in carefully and no heat gun needed and just used them 2 squeeges and only the tri-edge for the upper back corner mostly

I see people saying they use it online, but everyone I personally know doesn't like it.  I will chalk it up to good marketing and people jumping on the bandwagon...otherwise I am not sure why anyone would pay more for this product that doesn't do anything more (seems like sometimes less) than what JnJ or even the store brand already does.

Tint Slayer got a reaction from quality tintz in SolarFX never ceases to amaze me!
I was testing out hard cards and other tools looking to see if i could scratch the film with the tools, i wasn't testing the film, i was testing tools trying to see the scratch limits i could push with certain tools. No scratches on the CarbonFX, it was amazing. Even when i first got the sample i used it on my Saab 92x hatchback back glass i was rough on the film and probably could've still installed it if i didn't test out how much i could over shrink it to burn. I'm not nice to the CarbonFX and it still performs.

With 2/28in gasket wizard shields a New Tundra power rear window was so easy to drop in and the 4dr crew cab was super easy also with using them

Installing QDP with JnJ didn't work well for me, it was too fast to tack, i use Joy Non-Ultra and it works well, i usually use 10mls per 32oz bottle (or per 1 liter), sometimes more, i add 2 mls at a time when i need more, i have a 32 oz bottle with closer to 20mls for back windows or tight situations.

Unless you did the original install you don't know how much the defrosters have been molested .

Safest and least expensive thing is to say I am not responsible if them defrosters dont work after removing the film

I'm old school and just bag using my regular slip solution.  Ammonia is prolly safe but I'm afraid I would have a customer say they are alergic to it and want a new car.

Tint Slayer got a reaction from First Revolution Tint in Questions about Mobile tinting.
When i was an Ironworker we had this little box tent that covered a small enough area for me to be in so i could weld while it rained or snowed, i'm trying to find that, but what i'm getting at is look in construction supply places for a work tent maybe

Tint Slayer reacted to shadytints in Squeegee hardness
Over the years have used many different ones.  soft black in the 80's and switched to yellow, then blue and tried orange and red.  Large turbos often left more water and the film textured as it dried.  smaller ones give more pressure per square inch but then take longer.  switched to fusion 5ES with blue max  and noticed a haze instead of texture and faster cure.  pro-handle is slower and more awkward for prep.

Best of both worlds.  Use a yellow turbo cut 9 inches for quick prep and squeegee with a long angle on one side for reach.  the yellow can flex in your hand to adjust to the curve of the window.  final step use pro-handle for max water removal

That's what i currently do, it's not like pulling gaskets is brain surgery, but some very competent people are using the GW and saying why pull gaskets.

If you're really good you'll never be satisfied with your work, it's when you think you know it all is when you lose your edge. Just figure you'll always be learning.

Tint Slayer reacted to DynamicATL in Advice on Huper Optik/Autobahn
I honestly would be shocked if they allowed a mobile installer to be a dealer, but you never know.  Huper quality is great, but I would do the Autobahn program.  The reason is it adds two films to the lineup...Black and Performa.  Black didn't exist when we were a dealer, but going to assume it is a Color Stable film with a black appearance versus Huper Xtreme having a charcoal appearance.  Performa is a higher performing film that is on the level with several Ceramic films.  Without Autobahn, there is a price gap from Xtreme to Ceramic which makes it harder to upsell IMO.  To really benefit from the film you have to be able install and move their Ceramic line.  Now if you are a newer tinter or never worked with a hard installation film, Huper most likely is not a good choice since you probably will not be able to install their Ceramic line.

I get urethane skid-marks on both the glass and the hardcoat with the orange crush. Would use them if that were not the case.

    Hey tint tool distributors.

Could we possibly get a search or a good chart for all the hard cards and turbo's etc. etc. ... that is based on a Durometer Chart (hardness chart) ?
Rather than having to click on each tool and see which hardness strength it falls in between, could SOMEONE put together an easy to read chart that shows them in order from soft to hard.
Might as well include which is better for which somewhere in there.  ( i.e. - good for tint / good for ceramic tint / good for PPF etc. )

Just a thought that might make searching and ordering the correct tools in the proper hardness strength a little easier.

Give it a try! Using the exacto I shave some windows using a cut forward pull slightly back and repeat till I'm done. Hold the knife firm but I only let the blade rest on the bevel. Find the right angle and can start surfing across the edge and shave in a minute or less. ...or more

The one piece units are a little less portable.  I think the portability of the Quickjack is the point.

If you are going to be stationary, I would look into something a little more stable and a one piece unit.

Now or if you are going to be mobile or just have a small garage, the Quickjack is probably a great way to go.

When you have to pee just ask them to hold it for you and don't let the streams cross.
