Ryker got a reaction from Bham in Figuring out tint % needed
I use global 40% to get in a net 35% here in Illinois. It will typically meter between 36% and 32%. That gets in the 5% allowed over for legal....
So yes, a true 40% film is the range you want. Now the fact is you won't likely see a difference if it is between 30 and 38% with your eyes. Meters are the only way...
Some vehicles will look darker with a certain darkness than another similar vehicle. A darker car, darker interior, shorter, and or smaller windows... all factors. Overcast days the windows will look different and harder to see in due to the gray reflection from the sky.

Ryker reacted to Dano in Is it mandatory to shift film when cutting?
I stopped side shifting a long time ago. Today the only cut I'll make is the bottom and top edges.
Sometimes I'll shift the bottom down before cutting the top if the inside door sweep is low. For the sides I'll use a marker or grease pencil to mark the edges and cut them out on my peel board. One small wiggle can cost a bunch of embarrassment if you gaff a rubber or scar the glass.

Tell them your price and tell them you only use your film.

Ryker got a reaction from Dano in Customer providing the tint
They think they have some magic film, might be a film you don't carry like a more reflective, back in the day the fader films were popular and had a customer or two wanted to get me to do those, could be they think they are going to get a better price because they provide the tint.
They don't understand that the film is a very small piece and it's more labor...

Ryker got a reaction from LB55 in Auto window tint claims/performance question
You don't. You trust the shop or you don't.
Do you question everything like this? Did I get an Angus steak? Was it US or Mexico? Was it really an 8 oz or was it 7.8 oz?

Or tell them it's double the price and if something happens they have to provide more film and pay for your extra time.

Unless you have a really high dollar meter you aren't measuring any thing worthwhile.
It's also likely that the "96%" or whatever is a narrow band of IR.....

So you aren't measuring IR but a generic "solar heat". I've got the old analog btu meter and it was a cool tool but I don't use it and have not for probably 20 years.
You are way overthinking this.

Ryker got a reaction from Tintguy1980 in Help me pick?!
How long the shop has been around helps but the work they do is more telling. There are shops I know that have been "around" longer than I have but I was killing them in quality from the start. Here I am 24 years in.
Go look at the work they do.

Ryker got a reaction from Bham in Global QDP VS LLumar CTX
If it's qdp ceramic then I say go with global if the shops are equal if it's just qdp then you'll get better heat rejection from the llumar ctx....

Ryker got a reaction from Paragon in Unknown Marks On Windows
If that's a rear roll down window I bet the dealership uses key boxes.... they will rub about like that.

Ryker got a reaction from TintDude in Popcorn on defroster lines
If your talking about the film popping off then figure out a smoother shrink style. The film pops because it's not flat. Over shrinking is a problem.....
Look at my signature or look up "the ryk shrink" on YouTube. Figure that out and you will likely find your solution.

Try and put it in the sun and let it set until the window is hot then press it again.

Ryker got a reaction from Dano in Flat glass Film able to use in Autos ?
If it's dry adhesive it won't work well. It will shrink just fine but not going to adhere well. I used sun-gard Nova on an 88 s10 blazer windshield over 20 years ago. It was detac ps adhesive then though.

Ryker got a reaction from Bham in Dealer app denied
So what of this list does Garware, Global, not make? You know Madico doesn't make poly?

Ryker got a reaction from TintDude in Shrink Pointers, Needed
I use llumar film-on and seldom do any cleaning of my bottles. I use RO filtered water and occasionally I'll rinse my bottles with some good old isopropyl 70%.
I use Hudson tec hand held compression sprayers that I've had for many years.

Ryker got a reaction from DynamicATL in 5% Window Tint, Major reflections now.
Not exactly "zero" tint. Maybe no film but the glass is not clear on any factory glass....
Clear glass will reflect too so you are very valid in this though...
