It’s the rubber on the quarter windows I’ve seen them burn super easy. Same with the plastic side molding on Toyota Corrola. The Corrola was like $16 from the dealer.

I know now it’s weird, but he’s right! More often than not, the more expensive the car, the less they care. I can’t tell you how many jobs I’ve been so proud to put out only to have the customer in some exotic, take the keys and drive away w/out even walking around the car.

I feel exactly the same as you guys. I love Global but it makes my job selling just a bit harder.my tried an true customers take my word for it that Global can complete with the rest of them.  That’s why I’m switching and I’m now a LULU dealer. It’s just gonna be easier to sell.

It’s those molex  plugs.  They face upward and collect the water coming down pillars. There was another post about this a while back. My brother tints a ton of Tesla’s, so I warned him. Take the pillars off and stuff microfibers down the holes and then cover everything the way you normally would. He hasn’t had any problems yet.

Screw that!  I was a flat rate technician that also tinted at the dealership.  They supplied everything to do the job. And a 4 door sedan-(mostly fusions and focus) paid 4.5 hours.... times that by my pay grade was $112.50 per car. A 2 door glass job was 2 hours which paid $50. We also did door edge guard and handle cups. Flat pay of 3 hours for them or $75.  If you go for $25 and $45 per car they’re takin extreme advantage of you!  I’m also in the southeast. Athens GA was where dealership was located.  If you have experience and are bringing a trade to them to make big money off of.... make them pay for it!!!  Remember a dealership will normally take a $160 tint job and mark it up to $299-599 depending on the sale.  Best of luck!!

I am not sure if there are any yearly requirements or not for Llumar Select Pro.  Personally, I have never been told one for Llumar, just the initial buy-in which the rep can alter.  Even for 3M, there is a buy-in and $3k per quarter to be on the dealer locator.

Anyway, the bonus and responsibility of a good prepper is to pull the vehicle in, watch installer as to where they start or finish, stay behind the install and in front of the delivery which is as an installer you would lay the film and the prepper would learn your moves and pick up on the other responsibilities. Our prep guy pulls the vehicle in, opens all doors, cleans all glass from passenger side around. Installer installs from passenger side around and prepper cleans installed glass and parks vehicle and gets the next one.
they learn quick because in their mind they want to tint and be that guy. Our preppers touch up everything on the lot while we are installing the next one. They are valuable with high volume and workmanship. After 4-6 months of prepping we give them the responsibility of installing and see where they are. Makes life easy.
a good prepper with a set of hands and extra pair of eyeballs is invaluable.

So it’s a 50/50 for me on Tesla customers. They are either super easy or complete PITA. (Feel the need to show you how to operate the car like you’ve never seen one before)  Model 3 isn’t all that bad. Back glass is easier than it looks, and if you do the windshield, be sure to pull the pillars off. Then cover the area well. There is a molex plug in each side that is facing upward to catch and hold water.

Yeah bro I'm frugal. Not no cheapo but I don't like to waste. I even recycle some of the towels and use them to clean other stuff like the shop bathroom, toilet, etc. hahahaha

It’s the poor adhesive and the fact that it curls a lot causing the roll ups to peel. Definitely not worth the headache. The ultra performance is a joke it’s has the lowest TSER among its competitors. Now this was a very long time ago so they might of changed things now but I’ll never use them again.

I use about 3-4 towels a car. 240 towels a box at $30+ equals $2 a car. All the semi used towels get thrown in a box. Those towels have a couple uses after that. Firstly I’ll use them to clean the rubber side seals with alcohol to reduce contamination coming in from the sides. My second use for them is during felt installs. I use the red scotch pads with alcohol to prep the sweeps and the old towels to wipe them clean prior to felting them. Sometimes you’ll get drip marks on door panels and I’ll use those old towels with some meguiars interior detailer.

Make sure you call the glass company direct...like Pilkington.  I paid $200 getting it through a mobile glass guy we know, but I am sure he made atleast $40/50 for picking up and dropping it off to us.

This might seem like overkill but what I did is I ordered a new back window from Honda that way I can shrink on the stand and then install.  We've already done about 6 so far this year so its gonna be a popular car.  Im charging every customer an extra 40.00 dollars above the average price to make up for the price of the window.  Im already a third of the way there.  I realize this is isn't the best answer if you are doing low volume but this is definitely a huge time saver.
