Pretty straight forward vehicle. All 4 doors just pull back on the top (no screws) so you can lift out the sweep. Front doors have retainer pop at about 4" down up by the front mirror corner that helps if you pop it out. Need to have somone pull the ouside top of the rear door panel out just a bit so you can get the front corner of the panel to hook around the upright door frame when putting the panel back over the sweep, but other than that a pretty simple vehicle.

It has been almost  4 yrs since I last logged in...How's everyone been doing?

I have been crazy busy since, which has been a blessing. Each day is a blessing, really.
I've noticed there are more customers joining the forum and asking questions about installs and the film industry. I'm happy to see that bc it gives them insight as well as 1st hand critiques of other installers out there. Nothing bothers me more than a paid customer getting sh*tty installs done....only to say dust and dirt specks "will dry out".

So, what have you guys/gals been up to last 2-3yrs? LOL😀

Front doors and windshield on a buddies car today. Pretty sure the back was lulu but qdp 32 ceramic and 80 on the shield matched up great.

I emailed the tinter some pictures of it and said I was concerned. He offered to redo it without hesitation. Hopefully third time is the charm!  I am going to buy him lunch as a token of appreciation for not jerking me around and standing behind his work. I do appreciate that so it’s the least I can do.

    Thanks for all the replies!

Keep in mind that when you post stuff about how great you are, but with no identifying information, it's fairly empty.

If you think something like - "I don't need to say who I am" - that is 150% true. But it still leaves those words as being meaningless.

Nothing like this would leave my shop.  Perfect? No.  Can you find more than a few specs on anything worth tinting? Absolutely not.  You would have to be nose printing 99% of my work to find anything.

This tint job could be done better by any beginner that has any skill level!

I'll rephrase and say that if you think this is acceptable then you need to quit!

If you think that is acceptable then I pity your clients!  The amount of contamination is ridiculous. It isn't just a few specs and isn't something that needs to dry out!

Its been a while since posting but i felt inclined to share my excitement about my new setup.
I have a q64 and fc9000 in the shop and wanted to try something a bit different for a change as i needed a new shop station.
Ive always heard great things about Summa products and i heard about a new series they just released so i grabbed it and wow im blown away.
The new Summa S one is an absolute beast for window film. Im currently cutting Xpel products and this plotter absolutely crushes the viny express and graphtec in performance. Much smoother machine and incredibly fast. If i were to run the graphtec at these speeds it would destroy the film but this machine cuts with ease. I dont see a lot of guys running these plotters with window film but i highly recommend checking them out asap.
Ill throw some pics up of the setup tomorrow.

highplains reacted to Roach in Chalkboard film - anyone try it?
Ok, so I tried the film today.

Here are some pics of the film next to a chalkboard that my sister has in her kitchen.

The film is very similar in appearance. Writing on it was also very similar. But, when using the eraser, it didn’t wipe clean. It kindof sorta smeared it as you can see. So I just got a wet paper towel and it  wiped clean.

This film is designed to adhere to a wall rather then glass. But, from the Q&A section for it on solyx’s site, they said it can be applied to glass which if you did, they suggest lightly misting it. (You apply it dry when putting it on a wall)

Overall I was pleased with it. I have no clue how it is price wise compared to normal chalkboard. The advantage I can see is when it comes to size. I was looking on amazon and they have different sizes, but not every size. So the film - you can cut exactly the size you want to have.

BTW, your competition is cheaper, can you match the price?

Let's play a little game called "Oh,, By the way"
Things you need to know that the customer fails to tell you.

Try to keep it tint related and please, Keep it clean and have fun.

started this because of one I had today and thought we all could have a little fun with this.

    I'll start with,

Got and early 2000 S-10 in today.
Oh, BTW =  The drivers window has film that needs removing. We tried to clean the passenger window but left glue around the top edge so the window is glued to the rubber.
"           " = The rear window has film on it that needs to be removed, but I'm gonna act like I didn't realize that.
"          " =  The plastic is brittle so you can't open the extended cab wing windows to do them properly.

    Grrrr,,,

Okay guys,, your turn.  Keep it going. Have some fun with this.

Flat Glass job . Get to house to install DC on an odd +/- 50"x60", poor access upstairs window that faces street the custy does not want the hassle of drapes or blinds on.
1st BTW... Zero mention on W/O about the removal of alligatored old sun control on the work order. I thought it was an over the phone quote. "Hey custy ...the removal is not mentioned on W/O. It will take some extra time and clean up not accounted for in the price". "I have to call shop to make sure its been addressed properly, This should have added to the cost of the project. I must also let Scheduling know I'll be longer ". Custy....." No problem, Sales guy was here and saw it. Not sure why he did not include the time. I'm fine with an added charge".
"Hey Scheduling ..I'll be longer ... Sales did not mention removal of film and I have to call him for up-charge or not and then get to it"
Scheduling..."No problem..hes in the office He should pick up."
Called Sales "Hey...You did not include for the removal ,That's chargeable time and fowls up scheduling" .
Sales.. ." YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE EXISTING FILM ANYWAY!!!! GET THE EFFING WINDOW DONE AND TELL THE EFFING BITCH THERE WILL BE NO ADDED COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
2nd BTW..... ( Custy can hear it all through phone . She went from very pleasant to ANGRY🤬🤬) She asked for my cell to talk to Sales ...

" I'm not very pleased with how you talk to your crew you Jack@$$. I heard every word you said and I told you when you were here to measure up that I'm fine with all costs related to RE and RE. ARE YOU SOME KIND OF MORON TALKING ABOUT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THAT? I'LL BE HAVING A CHAT WITH THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY!!!!!!"
She promptly handed me back the phone while I stood there a few seconds mouth and eyes wide open struggling to believe this just happened. She was back to pleasant demeanor to me ,but still hot about the sales guy while she called the owner on her cell.
Dude became a former sales guy very quickly .

I the medium smoke would be a reasonable one to start with and I'd avoid the blue films. The last one I bought was like bright f-ing windex blue and in my opinion asking for unwanted attention from law enforcement.
