So I just recently builds a new peel board on a rolling cart. Looking to find something a little bit more convenient for roll ups. I just picked up a utility cart from harbor freight for 50$ and use some we are mounts for the glass that I found for free.

Lately a couple of people have suggested taking the forum to the Goliath of Facebook. I suppose they prefer the ease and that there are many people on it.
I think these people deserve a thoughtful response from me why we will never be on Facebook and why TintDude.com is different.
The easiest way to do this is to say what we are not, so I titled the post: TintDude.com Does Not...

TintDude.com does not have a team of psychologists making their product as addictive as possible.
TintDude.com does not add members to the forum, every member here signed up. Unlike the groups that can be created in a day where the admin 'adds' members that they have info about to make it look like hundreds of people signed up.
TintDude.com does not track you around the web and keep track of all the websites you visit.
TintDude.com does not make you wait 2 weeks to delete your account.
TintDude.com does not create a psychological profile of you that it can share with 3rd parties.
TintDude.com does not sell your information to, or share your information with 3rd parties or device makers.
TintDude.com does not require in its terms of service that if you use the mobile app that we have full access to any and all banking information done on that phone.
TintDude.com does not build shadow profiles of non-members.
TintDude.com does not work with payment sites to know what products you buy online.
TintDude.com does not care about your race, gender or politics.
TintDude.com does not perform psychologic experiments on its members.

    Facebook does.

I hope everyone appreciates the difference and what we are trying to do here. Thanks for your time.

I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that... I dunno. Not sure what industry you work in, but when working day after day with customers.... venting, warranted or not, is not out of the norm. I remember one job I was on - it was a house tinting job - I went on this long rant... like... it was bad. And the customer heard. It wasn't about them - just another work situation, but after the fact I noticed the door was closed in the room we were in... they closed it. People vent.  I'm not saying it's right.... it's just a 'people' thing... IMO.

That being said... I'm not sure I would give them a 3rd try. See if they will remove the tint and refund you. (If you keep the tint and get a refund - that puts you, sorta, in a better position then you were at day 1. which is better then how you were before you went with them. - sorry... fan of the people's court. lol You gotta be made whole, but not better then you were before the issue arose)

Of course if they actually scratched your glass... that's a different story. still.. .They need to make you whole to where you were the moment you arrived at their shop. IMO

Starting out you want to use a film you trust and one that doesn't break the bank.  IMO, I would stick with Global since that is the film you know.  If you want to venture out, check out SolarFX or XPEL.

Thanks! Honestly your blueprint was perfect! You could get away with 2x4 because of how sturdy it is! Only thing I did differently was extending bottom post to 3" but probably didn't even need that!
The only thing that I can think of is changing my glass to tempered but I'm keeping my eye out for that.

I put the cheapest film SolarFX sells on my beater pickup truck to check it out about 4 years ago and it's a 5 year warranty film (so i installed it around same time as original poster), it's sits in direct sunlight all day long. Classic Series black nr 1-ply. Zero fade or change of color, when i roll the window down to see the hidden top edge there's no difference from the direct sunlight portion below. I'd hate to be the person to have to remove this film someday, zero signs of glue failure.
It's actually a really nice looking film, still super clear and it looks better than a lot of 2 ply. I recommend it if you're into a 1 ply that lasts. My 2 cents on it

Duuuuude, looks amazing! The 3'-0 long base looks better, i was going to call out 3'-0 like you did but i wanted it to fit thru doorways if needed though i can't think of many reasons for that need lol. The vertical sides should be screwed into that little piece for extra bracing. The only concern i had was i tried to do without the diagonal bracing like shown in the pic below, i made the connection at the base beefy to where it should be ok, but let me know if you ever feel it needed the brace or if it doesn't feel solid or any input and i'll change the drawing and repost.
I also was thinking of using a 6"+ roof gutter centered under the wood at the bottom of the glass so the water collects and goes out the side.
Are those 3/8" lag screws you used to connect it?
Great job and great choice in film!

Shawn has been in the plastics game since 8tracks.       He built the SolarFx brand name and designed the color for CarbonFx personally, or at least was directly involved with it,,,, if I am not mistaken.

Have you ever seen the color of the CarbonFx line?  I have never seen another film directly available to us that is close to that color of film, in my opinion. Of course.  I haven't seen all of them out there, but it definitely unique.

Depends on the type of door, but generally speaking it is not worth it to pull those unless you are doing safety/security film.

Some of the older style can be removed rather easy by pulling the small gasket around the perimeter and the stops will basically fall out. There are some that are much more difficult to remove, requiring you to beat on them with a mallet or flatbar just right to pop the stops loose. Either way most all of them require using a mallet to pound the stops back in place. Also have to deal with the glass being completely loose and wanting to fall inward. I use a suction cup on the outside with a board that goes through the handle and too the frame.

Think in most cases it really doesn't make sense to pull them, but if it's the floppy gaskets that are the problem try bumping with a hard card tucking them back into the frame.

I am incredibly pissed. Due to reasons that don't really matter, I wasn't able to get one until just now. Went to my local McDs... got it.. didn't check or anything, because, you know... I believe in pixy dust and fairies...  I get home and there is, and I'm not kidding, a dab of BBQ sauce on it.

Which I guess I shouldn't be surprised - whenever I go to my local store they never get it right. I usually will drive further to one or two others then go to the closest.. but I was with a friend and it was a last min thought on the way home from hanging out tonight.
