ErieTint got a reaction from Diablo's Tint in Huge Shoutout and Thanks
Just wanted to say thanks @OverLord for his huge HUGE help on a 1995 C4 Corvette back hatch yesterday.

Burned up a couple pieces of (ceramic) film on my own and became super frustrated. Car has been sitting in my shop for a week while I mentally cooled down and debated how much more film I wanted to trash.

David was nice enough to stop by the shop and lend me a hand. When I say lend I mean he drove well over an hour each way to school me on how to tint a 'Vette.

I've not been doing this as long as a lot of you but days like yesterday give me hope. This truly is an industry of sharing knowledge and helping your fellow tinter. Hopefully I can put in as many successful years as some of the guys here.

Appreciate the help man, more than you can imagine. Tell Ann thanks too for being patient with us. My fiancé gets antsy when its "guy time" because she knows the clock almost seems to stop.

Next time we will have to catch up for something less work related, maybe when @jh812 is back in this neck of the woods.

They do make a mini version. It may not be to market yet but I have seen videos of it on FB from Dean Mitchell, he is their pattern guru.

Im getting to the point where I rarely tuck. I’ll pull the seal and/or panel if the sides stick out, bottom seal is tight, and if its a removal or the felt is deteriorating. I also do it for ease if I can do it fast. Most all vehicles now fall in these categories, so Im to the point of just never tucking. The few times i do now it just irritates me, especially since I dont do it as much and lose my edge doing it.

I have been thinking along the same lines. I had shirts and koozies made for a local car show back in September. Gave some shirts to close friends and early customers. Put koozies in the grab bag for all the pre-registered car show cars. Thinking of giving away my remaining koozies to the first X vehicles this year.

Had a lot of inquires about shirts too. Next run I think I am going to sell some and get some extras for people who do a ceramic install or something.

Like @Naples Tint Company said, its about keeping them talking. Everyone wears a free shirt, even if its just for yard work and their neighbors see it.

I've done a handful of these so far, Limited's at that. They are very nice trucks.

I am a bottom loader personally and don't mind these trucks at all. I don't even bother with the bolt. I pop that back edge of the panel and sneak the sweep out. Then slip up the bottom of it to slide it back in.

I'm fully capable of installing with the panels on and there are some vehicles out there that I choose to do so on...very few though...very few
I feel that as an installer you should be comfortable and familiar with as many techniques as possible, what's most effective for one person or vehicle may not be for another. I pull the seal on probably 95-98% of the vehicles I do, some require panel removal while others just pull back. For me it's quicker and cleaner to do so and less risk to the panel itself than with gasket wizards/shields. I'm merely putting the information out there for those who want to approach it this way. I come from a body shop background so pulling panels is nothing new to me and I don't hesitate to do so. I can in turn pass on the pertinent information to make it easier for others who wish to do so but might otherwise be intimidated on a new model like this.

@Bham It was good to get to stop for a visit today. Told you I would try to make it more frequent .  I wish I had read your post above before I stopped by. I would have told you in person what I will type to you now.
In life I have learned that for every one or two good decisions you make there is bound to be a bad one. Not hiring you back in the 90's was a terrible decision on my part and an oversight that I should not have allowed to happen. I wasn't willing to give you a chance, didn't think you had the drive for it, and I let other folks influence my decisions when I should have at least given you an opportunity. You have proved me wrong many times...you have certainly been driven and you have achieved my achievements...your own shop. That one mistake of mine not only was very obviously my loss, but it also alienated us from each other and put a strain on our friendship maybe even still today. In front of all of these good, professional folks here on this forum, Jason,  I want you to know I am very sorry. I hope others here can learn from my mistake and always be willing to take a chance on others. I am very proud of you for what you have achieved.

I buy it right from LLumar when I order film and other supplies.

I spray from a Poly II pump sprayer.

They sell a pump that screws onto the bottle of Film On. Can't remember the exact volume but I usually use 6-7 pumps in the summer, 4-5 in the winter in a full sprayer.

I stick with regular ole Film On.

Used Johnson's on the very first truck I tinted, nothing but Film On since.

I can't really see switching from something I know works.

For what, $2 over a bottle that lasts for 20+ cars. Nah, I'm happy where I am.
