Honestly I'd just pull the glass on that one, takes a little more time up front but less headache in the long run. I also came into this from a body shop background so pulling panels or a piece of glass is nothing new to me.

I had stupid issues with Llumar including film separated layers when I tried to pull the liner on some ATR film.  The CTX scratched if you look at it wrong.  I know another guy that is a die hard Llumar fan and he has had lots of issues with it.

I seen one car come back with adhesive failure that had about 5 year old ATR 05 on the rear.  Was a Mazda 626.  I used Film-on the entire time and have every since. I didn't get to cover the guy on warranty as I no longer used Llumar.  I had a relationship with Performance Films still but they would not give my store credit or film to cover the job....

I didn't use Llumar long, 2 years, but when I switched to Global I never looked back.  I could buy 3 40" rolls of Global for the cost of 2 40" Llumar!  No small change.  I also gained 10 to 15 minutes per car as I had less stupid little things to deal with..... $100 an hour makes that 10 to 15 minutes worth more than the film cost difference!

Made for metal. Also removes paint and delaminates, likely does a number on the defrosters, will change the color of rubber to brown, removes baked on enamel so watch out for your baked on ceramic frit. Oddly enough the can says "don't use on aircraft". If you use it i'd duct tape every surface around it because it will destroy it. Also will give your skin a chemical burn. Also causes cancer. Look up Methyl Chloride on the OSHA website. I've worked with similar solvents for stripping structural steel and you should NOT be using this in an enclosed car, the can actually says not to use in enclosed spaces like basements and small, enclosed areas. I've seen big healthy iron workers pass out using Methyl Chloride to strip paint in an open area outside. If you use this stuff inside a car you're asking for trouble. Don't just do anything someone posts on the internet.

Yep and you get what you pay for also. I haven't seen to many "dealer tinted vehicles" that match my quality so good luck.

I didn't have the depth in my home garage so I rented a storage condo that I tint in. It's 45 deep and 20 wide with a 15 wide 14 tall door and 16 foot ceilings, plenty of room for even the biggest trucks. An added cost but keeps people out of my personal world.

I tell everyone right up front that I have no waiting area so it is drop off only. I have offered rides to a few friends and I will allow for overnight if they ask. For a four door car I tell people six hours with the justification that we have a cleaning and curing process. Also, if I tell them less and it takes me longer they wouldn't be happy. No issues to this day.

I have let a couple friends hang out but usually I put them to work pulling door panels or cleaning up before I get to the next window.

i tint out of a 24x30 shop building at my house.  i send out reminders to my customers of their appt and ask them to drop their vehicle off and have someone to pick them up as it may take 3-4 hours.  i am a one man show and i dont get in no hurry.  im very picky about quality and if i dont like it, i will rip it off and start over.  customers watching is most annoying.  they want to watch every move then question why you ae doing it like that.  im not there to give them free tint lessons.  i got a few friends i will let hang while i tint but joe public can call a ride.  i dont have a waiting room.

I haven't been here on tintdude for way too long.  Thought when I changed my business up last year I would have more time. ...Nope...busier than ever before with lower overhead!
I'm really excited to be working the Automechanika car show in Dubai the first week of next month. Will be doing demos for Global window film during the day and sightseeing after work! Have two days off also so going to have fun. Have decided to go skydiving over the Palms, ride a camel and prolly eat some, visit the Dubai aquarium, watch the world famous fountain show during dinner and of course go up the tallest building in the world and take pictures from the observation deck on the 114th floor!!!
I'm amazed all the places around the world gluing plastic to glass has taken me♡♡♡
If anyone on tintdude is in the area let me know and we can hang!
Promise to keep you guys posted with pictures.
    Cheers all
    #globalwindowfilm, hanging the best!

Hey everyone, I've been looking for a light i can throw anywhere in a vehicle where i need backlight. I have tried multiple products/flashlights etc. Cant find anything that is useful, so i've created this.... looking to see what others use or what ideas you have come up with.

The pics are an led board I've created. Cheap, bright, effective and very user friendly for experienced and learning tinters.

WOULD YOU BUY ONE? How much would you pay?

Its not about eliminating steps to get things done faster.

Its about learning a routine and repetition and mastering the craft of window tinting..... then comes speed.

it use to take me 4 hours a car when i first started. Now (5 years later) i can complete a whole car in 1.5-2hrs, pulling panels hand cutting and sticking super clean windows out the door.

AND its not work if it is FUN!!!!

No offense and I mean no offense you really just need to work on shrinking. When I was learning windshields it did seem they were a little bit more of a struggle to me as well. I think though if you keep at it you'll get to where it's no big deal. Practice and cuss words makes perfect brotha.

What kind of heat gun are you using? When I have a difficult shrink I use a heat gun that has a higher cfm rating so I can pull back a little further to shrink slower. I also try to keep moving around so the film has a chance to cool, try to shrink just a little bit all the way across the top or bottom instead of focusing on a section/quadrant at a time. I also periodically blow some heat under the film, that lifting and light heat seems to help keep the film from sticking to the glass as it gets down to those corners. The biggest thing that's going to help you is to keep doing it, keep trying different techniques and learning to read your film so you know what it can and can't take when it comes to shrinking it.

The H does restrict the films movement some. I started out with H, but went to just a line across for years now.  What you can do is hold your hand along the side edge when doing the corners(same effect as H).  Bgs with a lot of curve ill start heating the side portion (corners) for a second then i use my hand to stretch the side flat.  Another thing i do is split the fingers along the bg before heating and make sure its not all in a corner. Corners are hardest, so push more to the midde to make them easier.
