Keep options simple

Some of you may have noticed that with few choices a custy makes a quick decision and given large number of options it takes FOREVER or confuses custy.

 

Study says too much choice hurts sales.

I agree...had  a customer recently that was annoyed by this shop that offered like 6-8 films!!  Also, offering a cheap quality as a baseline, which basically forces a customer to upgrade just annoys people.  IMO, no more than 3 options.

You can see it happen on a potential customers face just about every time those Solyx binders come out.

We have 4 options that all serve their own purpose, so don't overlap much.  Our entry-level rarely gets picked, so mainly the upper 3 are the focus.  We reduced out flat glass options to 3-4 for the most part too.

Really its ATC or CTX then a couple options on darkness. There is AIR too but thats mostly reserved for windshields.

 

Thinking of doing up sample boards with Legal, Light, Medium and Dark to avoid the whole number situation.

 

Correspond Legal, Light, Medium and Dark as 50, 35, 15 or 20 and 5. I can't stand the "Do you have like a 26?" question.

True. 

 

Had someone ask "What do you carry?" so I tell them what shades I stock. Then flat out asked for something I didn't have.

 

Hence my thoughts on moving to the Legal, Light, Medium and Dark scale. Don't even talk numbers with them. Makes it safer.

I know it wouldn't work with my customers since at least 50% of them come in with a specific shade number in their head.
