  1. I used to sling a lot of Llumar and have tried just about every other type of film out there. Llumar is a quality product with horrible business practices. They really don't look out for the smaller shops economically in my opinion. Anyone that won't sell you film just because you aren't ordering enough in volume from them is not looking out for the little guy. Global is as good or better in some cases than Llumar. If you can get a good distributor who won't drop you if you don't order a certain dollar amount ever month, then Global would definitely be the way to go. Rock solid film from a manufacturer that has all of the components to produce film from beginning to end. Llumar has the same thing but they had to spend years buying companies here and there and changing there name a few times before they got to the beginning to end stage. So in short,,,, Global is just as solid as Llumar and will do any installer or shop just as a high quality film for installation. Just my two cents.
  2. A little Yota action going on at The Tint Stop 🛑

    2021 Toyota Venza

@Booms This is the same thing with the Lexus NX SUV's , my questions are = Do you think they can still be tinted? Are you going to not tint them at all (just pass) ? Or go ahead and tint them without using a blade? Thanks
  4. I have a love/hate relationship with these cars. You know it’s always gonna be bad when you cut the backglass in the shape of a Superman emblem. Vette. T/A either one Yes, I did the rear twice.
  5. Today was old Toyota truck day. This one and a pain in the butt ‘86 Xtra Cab
  6. Pretty sure those windows are laminated. You could be seeing a polarization effect because of the extra plastic in-between the two pieces of glass. Also, window tint alone has the " oil slick " look on it's on. It is very common with all window films and there is nothing you can do about it.
  7. I think it is the J&J separating in the bottles. If they sit just a little bit to long it can happen.
  8. Since the pictures are tough to tell from..... easiest way to tell where they are is too feel with the backside of your fingernail. If they are on the outside then you will have to pay attention to the pattern of the scratches to determine the cause. If they are on the inside and you can feel them easily in the tint,,, well, that's self explanatory. Only bigger issue is if they are on the inside UNDER the tint. Then that's gonna take some real looking at to see what the cause is. Good luck.
  9. Most of us order from the same people we get our film from. Like Roach said, there are few independent tool companies that only sell tools for installing film and don't sell film also. Google search window tint tools and you'll see all you need to know. Good luck.
  10. Window tint reduces the amount of heat felt on the skin by blocking more of the infrared spectrum that you feel from the sun. There are still other aspects of the heat spectrum getting through the film, plus as said above the rest of the vehicle or building is still being heated. Window tint is beneficial to us because it blocks what we feel from the sun in the IR spectrum, it is beneficial to us and other things because of the UV protection tint has. But it will not stop radiant heat which is what heats up the entire vehicle.
  11. I've done thousands upon thousands of windows and I doubt that there was one that didn't have some sort of " speck " in it. It's the nature of the beast in our world. Trying for a perfect instal in an imperfect instal situation. The perfect install never happens. Unless you have a huge amount of specks together in one spot or more than one or two here or there, there is really nothing to complain about. Debris happens and doesn't affect quality film. While it won't go away, it won't hurt it. Just my two cents. Look through the film = not at it. Good luck.
  12. Agree with @smookee408@yahoo.com I like Llumar film, but hate the way they do business. They treat the smaller shop like crap. Good film though Global is top notch stuff. Haven't had any returns other than it being my fault. Shrinks easy, installs great and last forever. Can't say whether Xpel is really Global film. I had heard that rumor also but we peons will probably never know the real truth. Let's just hope it is Global so that at least it will be good product.
  13. That's crazy. If all the other ones worked and this one didn't --------- I just don't know man. Might Try getting some of that glass renew stuff that Dragon is selling. Supposedly takes any and all coating off the glass and makes it a new surface.
  14. Is that one piece of glass different than all the others? This sounds like a tension issue. I assume you are trimming to the rubber? When you tried to make it work, did you make sure the film was not touching any rubber at all. In other words, leave a light gap ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE BOTTOM of the window. Sometimes if any of the film is touching any of the rubber at all it will cause it to release because of the negative tension you putting on the film. If it will stay trying it this way you will have to live with the light gap. Next option is (now bear with me on this one) Lay it out and where it is not sticking in the curve, cut it vertically so when you install it, it will overlap in the curve. Again, if it stays this way, then it is your install method and you will have to figure out a way to put more shrink into it to get rid of the negative tension of the film naturally wanting to pull off the glass. It's the same with the 2000 year model Camaro's and Firebird's on the rear glass. The black frit would cause issues sometimes and release the film tension. Also recommended sticking with a quick tacking slip solution like you were doing. BTW = I HATE doing boats like that and turn them down now.
  15. When I started getting burned the same way by ASWF crap, I did lots of research and found Global to be one of the best due to Garware being a core product company like Lulu. Meaning they start from the beginning to make film, not the middle by adding laminate to someone else's core, like most of these failing companies like ASWcrap, FlexCrap, MaxProCrap, and RaynoCrap. They either pass them selves off as a film maker when they are just laminators, or they rebox some cheap film in prettier boxes and call it theirs. Global is SOLID film. Their 70% Ceramic is one of the best performing films "spectrally" across the board on the market. Put it behind one of those expensive IR meters and see how well it performs. It outperforms Lulu, BTW. You won't go wrong with Global in my opinion. It's what I sling all day everyday.
  16. Not sure how much water you use per day, but in my opinion switching to gallon distilled water is the only way to go. By myself I am at 2 - 4 gallons a day. At about $ .80/gal. Zero issues when I switched and slip works way more consistently. you could also buy a distilling machine Used for around $400 And do at least 4 gal a day yourself.
  17. Hope everyone at least takes Saturday off for some rest and fun. I know I am. Happy 4th ever E body.
  18. Like @no ma'am said it’s on the outside. The thing is, when you tint the windows any exterior defects will be more obvious. So streaks and dings that might not have been seen so easily when the glass was clear, will now show up easily.
  19. They are ALL referring to "color" when they use the term charcoal. There is not any charcoal material of any kind used in the making of window film. Charcoal, carbon, bronze, etc. are defining the color or hue of the film
  20. It's amazing how the "real customers" with the high end, expensive vehicles don't get that picky about a speck or two. It's always the "wanna be's" that wish they could have afforded the higher end ride but settled for what they got and now they think it's "all that" and want it to be perfect. Those are the ones that bring a magnifying glass to the delivery of the vehicle. I pulled a kid away from his truck because he was trying to get me to check out this spot on his rear window (20% over factory 20 mind you) that you had to look at it with your head at an angle with just the right light showing to see the quote "spots". I made him step back about two feet and show me where the spot was. He said " you can't see it from here, you have to look like this at it" You just made my point sir. Look THROUGH THE TINT, not at it. These customers will always exist and usually have a predetermined mindset for acting that way to begin with. You just have to learn to deal with them because they were going to act that way even if it was perfect. If you are letting crap work out the door, well that's your own fault.
