Global QDP. Switched from suntek carbon and love the global so much better!!!

CaliTINT reacted to CnCCustoms in Top Brand Window Film
Skip all that headache all together. Save some Flexfilm for when previous jobs come back for warranty replacement. And go global or SolarFX if you want. Can’t beat global performance on all lines for the money!

CaliTINT reacted to DynamicATL in Crystalline shrinking method for side windows
First question is where are you buying Crystalline from without being a shop meeting the minimum requirements? Or are you buying that fake Chinese stuff on eBay?

I have a sign that says 40.00 extra if you have to ask if the film goes on the inside

TL;DR Tape the felt edges. Top install and tuck the bottom.
I understand some vehicles can be a pita...but if you want to succeed, look into learning new techniques and adjusting your style accordingly. If you just abandon any vehicle that demonstrates more of a challenge, not only will you stagnate but you’ll lose a lot of business as well.

CaliTINT reacted to WL Tint in Anyone Shaved With a Ruler?
Came across somebody shaving with a ruler and it looks quick and easier than anything else I've tried. I want to give it a go but I'm assuming you need an insanely sharp ruler which will be kinda hard to find

CaliTINT reacted to CnCCustoms in Xpel window tint who makes it ???
I use fusion all type now. SolarFX sets us quick. Global sets up quick. But I can stress enough. Xpel sets up before you can even get it into place. Especially on a large piece like a windshield or back glass. Did a charger yesterday with one of the samples. No steel wool on defrosters. No rapid tac. No alcohol barely scrubbed it. Squeegeed it off. Shrunk as usual. Laid film on. No peanuts-Nothing. And it formed around those huge defrosters like a 1 ply film and STUCK

CaliTINT got a reaction from Tint Slayer in Automotive Window Tinters...would you let this tint job out of your shop? *pics*
Could it be they used a plotter to cut the film? and the glass is just uneven? I do notice some top edges of windows are uneven. Looks like your is slightly uneven to me which might explain it???
I'm undecided lol. It could've been lined up a bit better???

CaliTINT reacted to Ryker in Automotive Window Tinters...would you let this tint job out of your shop? *pics*
This was on a newer Mercedes car. Bottom ws peeling on driver door. Top edges were nearly perfect so I would be this was a plotter cut. Nothing like it being shot on the bottom and filling with paint that didn't sick either.

CaliTINT reacted to DynamicATL in Automotive Window Tinters...would you let this tint job out of your shop? *pics*
Yeah, they use a plotter to cut the pattern...not hand cut. The glass itself dips down on top, if it was hand cut then the cut would mirror that dip which it doesn't. Any older vehicle needs to be hand cut on the top edge. This is because the things can change over time plus the glass might not be the original glass. Yes, you need to have them redo it and make sure they are trimming the top edge themselves.

Looks like it to me as well. Also looks to be an easy bump & shave to correct it at the time of installation.

Also, @CaliTINT could be correct on a plotter cut, I’ve run across some pretty bad patterns before.

I feel exactly the same as you guys. I love Global but it makes my job selling just a bit harder.my tried an true customers take my word for it that Global can complete with the rest of them. That’s why I’m switching and I’m now a LULU dealer. It’s just gonna be easier to sell.

CaliTINT reacted to Blackwolftinting in Tinted a friend’s Miata hardtop
This was the first time in about 15 years that I’ve done a chrome cut out. My friend loves No Face, a character from some Japanese anime show. She had it tinted by another shop, and they left dirt EVERYWHERE and about a 3/4” light gap on the top. Retinted it with Suntek StdPro 5% and SDS-20 as the cut out. She was really happy with the final outcome. I thought it was cool.

Wow. Definitely a redo. I would've never let that leave our shop like that.

CaliTINT reacted to Ryker in DIY destroy it yourself
Got to retint this today. Had done the other door a couple weeks ago that a body shop had replaced.
I can't fathom what they cut this with. Also have to love the purple fade!
