CaliTINT got a reaction from jh812 in Quarter Window Rubber Cutting
When I first started tinting I was taught by the guy who trained me to cut the rubbers. So I've done hundreds of cars like that with no issues. I have a steady hand and you could hardly tell that I cut it. After going on tintdude, the consensus from most seems to be that cutting rubbers is a hack job. Since then, I have stopped cutting 99% of the rubber seals. I can usually get them tinted with no issues and not cutting the seals. I usually take a Platinum EZ Reach (one that is no good for installs) and jam it in the seal to loosen it up. This usually allows the film to easily tuck underneath. I know you can't tuck them all but the ones that you can't I have been pretty successful doing my just butting it up to the seal and getting 100% coverage.

CaliTINT reacted to Midtown Houston in Tint Pouch Collection
Got to thank Mike Sanchez on this custom pouch.... It is the perfect size for all the tool I carry in my pouch. I will use the big Dirty Pouch for off site tint and Jeremy Quick Draw pouch for commercial/residential job. It is all about being efficient and that what pouches are for.

CaliTINT got a reaction from TintDude in Struggle
When I was new my quarters looked like crap too. Now they look really good.
I keep many of my installation tools after they have exceeded their life for installs and use them for cleaning purposes only. I mark them with an X on both sides
My procedure:
1: Razor window
2: Spray foam glass cleaner all around the seals.
3: Using a thin microfiber towel and whatever tool (contour, bone, tri-edge, etc.) will fit into that particular window, I will do a pass all around deep into the seals. This also loosens the seal for easier installation. I also wipe the surrounding area in case the tint touches those areas during install. Flush windows with slip solution.
4: Then I follow up and I do the same thing with a quality blue shop (paper) towel. Not the kind that breaks apart but the reuseable ones.
-READY FOR INSTALL
5. Light but complete mist on the window with slip solution. I never spray deep into the upper seal before installation.
6. Peel liner from film and remove piece from clean transfer board or exterior window
7. Wet film while holding in the palm of my hand. I try not to handle the edges when possible.
8. Carefully install with as little touching of seals and outer areas of the window as possible.
If the car is brand new, I might skip the microfiber step if I feel its pretty clean.

floating everywhere.... let him do it again.... random things are just unavoidable sometimes and we all run into it

CaliTINT reacted to TQtinting in Scrubby pad contamination??
I make mine go quite a way before trashing them. And then I keep them around for using outside of glass.

CaliTINT got a reaction from quality tintz in Scrubby pad contamination??
I'm guilty of not replacing them often enough. But I try. I think replacing is every few weeks should suffice. I never use the same one I use for removing tint/adhesive for regular cleaning routine.

CaliTINT reacted to Mr paladin in How and why to use a steamer.
I use a steamer on door windows and 1/4 windows but don't care for it on back windows I have had a couple headliners come loose on older cars with a steamer, I prefer to sweat back windows.

CaliTINT got a reaction from Jkatfelix in customer drop off vs waiting
I see a huge change as far as people waiting vs drop off since Uber & Lyft came around. Back in the day, most people waited. Now nearly 90% of our customers drop off and most of them use rideshare to do stuff while their cars are being tinted.

CaliTINT reacted to diaconufernando in I've made a YouTube channel on how to remove door panels
Hello everyone I started to make videos on how to remove door panel and other how to remove videos, third brake lights and so on. Usually I tint Europen cars because I'm from Germany if you want to see more videos on the future you can support me subscribing to my channel.

this post is for people that want to learn how to remove door panels. I'm here to help, I don't say that you need to remove door panels in order to make a good tint job. I tint many cars with door panels on but when I have time I take them down and I bottom load the film for a better install.

CaliTINT reacted to jh812 in what type of windshield film are you using?
I haven't found a 70% I'm happy with to date. I honestly don't have much request for that particular shade but it would be nice to have. However I use global 80% for legalish windshield film. It's thicker like the 70 is but I haven't come across a shield I couldn't successfully tint with it yet. Low haze to it, no starburst effect, and tser is 44 I think.
