CaliTINT reacted to Midtown Houston in Quickjack is a must buy
A stationary 4 post lift cost about the same...but it cost anywhere from 2k to 4k on installation. I have the 4 post at our oil change place we used to own...we bought this because sometimes we have to used it in our detail, wash, and warehouse and it can move around in our lot to different departments.

The one piece units are a little less portable. I think the portability of the Quickjack is the point.
If you are going to be stationary, I would look into something a little more stable and a one piece unit.
Now or if you are going to be mobile or just have a small garage, the Quickjack is probably a great way to go.

CaliTINT got a reaction from First Revolution Tint in Questions about Mobile tinting.
I used to do mobile tinting. It's a pain in the ass if you don't do it in a garage. So what I did was only do customers cars that had their own garage (with enough room and with electricity). If they didn't I would refer them to tinters that I knew who had their own shops.

CaliTINT got a reaction from quality tintz in Cleaning spray bottles and tanks from baby shampoo
Awesome. I'll try that. Was gonna scrub or sand it off but wasn't sure if it was a good idea lol. Thanks!

Every time I refill my bottles I pour some plain water in there first, shake it up real good then dump it out. I feel like if I do this then I don't have to do a major maintenance cleaning very often on my bottles which is usually me pouring warm water and alcohol in there.
There is a thread on this somewhere. I recall reading it

CaliTINT got a reaction from quality tintz in Razor blade or scrubby pad or both?
We use razor blades for sides most of the time. Scrubbies for the rear and sprayaway glass cleaner

I tint and detail. I can tell you that detailing is way more labor for less money. If you decide to go at it on your own there is more equipment involved with doing it than with tinting and PDR. I don't do PDR but from what I know (I looked into it myself) there is a huge learning curve and you need patience (like in tinting). But really, go with your gut and do something you will love.

CaliTINT reacted to Midtown Houston in Global Window Films - How long have they been around?
The question you should ask is....how long have the rep been with the company. I have seen rep come and goes...and that is usually a bad sign. Then I seen company that have their rep for many many years letting me know that the product is good and the company take good care of their rep.

CaliTINT got a reaction from texassunshade in 2017 civic hatchback
Well Metro Films yes, that's just the way things worked out for me. I was taught to tint long long time ago (over 16+ years ago). I was never taught to take cars apart like the other stereo and alarm guys I worked with and since leaving my first shop I always worked alone with nobody to show me the way. Taking cars apart to me was a little intimidating because the few times that I tried, I always broke something (clips, etc.) or bent something. And some things never went back quite the same. So I gave up on it for the most part. Now a days we have more stuff on the internet (youtube, tintdude, etc,) to help me out so I have been slowly learning to take off more panels, rear decks, brake lights, etc. without breaking them. So thats kind of a low blow to say I'm not a tinter (I have thousands of cars under my belt). Maybe I'm just a tinter that's not really good at taking panels off haha. And I'm not alone, I hear many other tinters on here say they never pull panels. Unfortunately I do have to turn down 1% of my jobs because my lack of skill in this area, but I have to say that I do run a successful tinting business. Have a great day...
