I like to say anything is possible, but I haven't seen one yet. Once film is exposed to the air, you are going to get something on there. Not to mention film can come with specs from the manufacturer. We let the customer know real world expectations straight from the jump. If they insist they have received or can receive a perfect tint job, we let them know we are not the shop for them. Then once they find that shop to please bring the vehicle to us once it dries so we can point out all the imperfections. Only had two people take me up on it and both times were embarrassed when we found over 10 problems each job. It is like when someone comes in with a new vehicle and they insist their vehicle is perfect because it is new. Cool, let's go walk the car together then their jaw drops when we point out scratches, defects in paint, scratches on glass, etc. I love walking the Tesla Model 3 since it has the worst quality paint job I've ever seen from a manufacturer.

Partials cover your primary impact areas at a lower price point than completes. Depends a lot on your customer and the particular vehicle in question, as many years as I've been doing PPF in my area I can still probably count on one hand the number of serious inquiries I've gotten for completes, certainly wouldn't have to take off my shoes. That said there isn't a large portion of the population driving premium vehicles here either.

@MikeMN I'd do the leading edge of the hood at the bare minimum. If it were mine I'd personally do the hood & fenders, bumper, mirrors and the door edges & handle pockets. Like @alberts316 said it's a fairly easy one to do.

It just takes practice and time. @Tint Slayer is right on the money with how you should approach it. That is definitely an expensive film to be practicing with but it is a good film and not the most difficult to shrink so keep at it.

Don’t blame ya. This definitely made for a tough day, lot of up and down since it’s just me installing. Hard to argue with the almost $2k (after film) they paid me to do it though. Not bad for 5 hours of work.

Something you might not have ever seen

Uvinul is a UV inhibitor that is added during the film making process.  It has a shelf life.  If used passed this time or if for some reason it is a bad batch, then you end up with UV bloom (failure)
This generally happens when it get cold after manufacturing (if I'm not mistaken).

Some folks just have to force their opinion on other folks.  I've never understood this.  Live & Let Live people.  You don't like what someone somewhere else is doing, then it's ok to let people know once and then let it ride.  Unless your neighbor is having block parties every single night and dumping garbage on YOUR lawn, let it go!

Anyways, I'd typically be a bit less than $3k on a full front end, but again if it's a Porsche Macan or maybe Audi R8 with a more than average challenge, then I probably wouldn't be there.  But, again your area could have a lot to do with prices.

Guys if you remove these Audi third brake lights, make sure that you have some Q-tips and some WD-40.
Spray the tips of the Q-tip and wipe down the metal clips in the brake light and wipe down the metal mounts that it slides onto.
This will make your re-install SO MUCH EASIER.

Had some spare time on my hands. Here is a pic of how I store my rolls of film, there in wooden cabinets (keep dust out) standing on the core plugs which are screwed onto plywood. I also store the patterns of all the model of cars I have tinted (the rolls of used liners can be seen up top, I have approx 1500). Was just wondering what others do.

Hey @TomTint, I respect and appreciate that you have an opinion, but man, time to move on I think.

Now people are leaving the forum because of this and that kind of defeats the purpose.

Plus this isn't the first scrap you've gotten into here lately.

I think you should take a break from here Tom. Thanks for understanding.

We get it. You don’t believe in PPF.  Thats great.  So dont comment on PPF if you dont have 20 years of experience selling and installing it. No ones going to comment on Flat Glass films if they arent in that segment.  I just dont see how, in any way, it is productive to keep down talking a product that is 1. Popular for new car owners that value the look of their car 2. Is a good product to sell for a shop that want to make a profit.  Now I remember why I got off this forum. 🤦 yall have fun

Lets suppose you are in the market for a used car and the dealership has two that are just about identical as far as miles and options.  One was protected with PPF and the other wasn't.  Would you be willing to pay more for the car that looked brand new as far as the paint condition over the one that had dozens of rock chips and scratches?  If so, there's a ROI.  Not only that, but most people would assume that if the original owner was willing to pay big money up front for PPF, they probably took better care of the vehicle, got their oil changed and did regular maintenance as scheduled vs the owner that let their car get beat up.
