flat rock stan got a reaction from CaliTINT in Global Window Films - How long have they been around?
Garware has been producing high quality solar film forever. The Global line I have been using for around 10 years without a single warranty claim.
I met Mr. Garware at the Sema show and he said he developed the Global qdp line to show the world the Garware company can make the best film in the world....and he did!

You sure you are talking about Global?  To date I have not seen one post about failure with Global film.  Not just on here, but anywhere.

Darkest advertised vlt auto 5% I've seen is 3M FXHP at 2%. That being said @DynamicAppearance is right about the individual vehicle you're applying it to being just as much of factor as the film, factory glass vlt, interior color, car vs. SUV/truck etc.

    One milllllion dollars
Generally 35 dollars but tintdude peeps get a better price. I will just give you one to help you learn
PM me your mailing address.  I'm already headed to the airport area to catch a early flight in the morning to Saint Louis. Teaching a auto tinting class there next week. Soon as I get back I'll get it out to you. I think you might benefit from the 14 DVD Learning Library. Got a good TD discount on those. Let me know!
    Cheers

I Shave um with a exacto using #11 blade. Deep edges I trim the corners a little so the hidden part is micro edge.
I sell a hour long video on shaving. ..just saying
Helps you get the angle down for a great edge watching then practice,  practice and practice.

flat rock stan reacted to pro-tect mobile in DAP patterns soon only for Xpel PPF users?
Fill up the thread section? As far as I know there have been two threads bringing up Xpel's ethics... or lack there of. Sorry if that's just too much for you to skip over. I didn't start either of them although I have enough to make two or three on my own from my personal experience with them. These issues need to be brought to light because they will stab you in the back just as they have others. We are talking a big company here that has the ability to go into your market and kill your business... and they have been doing it. Again if you want to stick your head in the sand and ignore the truth then feel freed to scroll a little further to the next thread. But I am getting a lot of people PM'ing me that have had the same experiences... so its an issue installers need to know about.

Normally I not only up charge but require classic cars 2 be dropped off for 2-3 days so I can work on it between new cars or after hours  I loose money turning down new cars to tint old cars.

I use a white vinyl cut into strips for the tight felt sides. It is much smoother than most tape and of course use extra slip along with pattern cut exact.

flat rock stan reacted to Tint Slayer in Questions about Mobile tinting.
I did a search on "mobile garage" and saw a few nice tents for around 100 or less. I was thinking of the mobile thing at one time, bunch of ideas popped in my head, like i only need enough tent for the window i'm working on so maybe a small setup or 2, i also had a trailer i could fit a car on and pondered building onto the trailer a camper like thing that pops out on the sides so i can bring my garage with me. I also looked around for public covered garages in key areas that i could use. Like if they didn't have a garage i could tell them to meet me at a cool covered parking garage. I have a few friends with car shops, some will let me use an empty bay for $20 a tint job. I now have a physical shop and even in the enclosed shop i have dust issues. All i can say is work fast af lol.
On amazon i found a $300 generator that is good for 3500watts (4000 peak) (Champion, i also use it to power my house during outages). If it's just your heat gun you could get away with a 2000 watt, or you can use a torch for shrinking. just shooting out ideas. Let me know if you can make it work, i have a spare pickup i'd like to make the Tintmobile.

Probably 75% my customers have garages with space where the doors can extend without hitting stuff. The ones with no room do make it a little harder. Sometimes i can pull the vehcile to ones side and tint Bg, 1/4s, and driver side, then move for the passenger side. I also shut the garage when its windy if i can. Damn that sucks when its 110* though.

Cut the sides exact, you won't have light gaps. That pattern is going to be big once inside, unless you're using a computer pattern. Cutting that window exact will save you a lot of time and headaches. Best way to heat a finger on those is using heat on the outside

flat rock stan reacted to Midtown Houston in Facebook Ad
Just did an aggressive Facebook ad to boost up our sale before we head off to SEMA.  The phone won't quit ringing.  I can't even keep up.  Been booking appointment all morning.  Maybe this Facebook ad work or maybe it is because 700,000 vehicle just got total loss due to Hurricane Harvey. I would recommend doing this.
