So the DAP pattern was very nice. Did the install and no need for trimming. Also did a tint job from the DAP database and was happy with the patterns for the most part. Rear window pattern was a little big but all in all I have enjoyed the patterns so far. Going to use it for the month and see. The PPF pattern needed minimal stretching and no trimming. Made easy work of the job. Only did HFM so it took no time at all on the brand new car. Wish I could get that software for cheaper. emoji16.png

How much time and headache did you save using a better pattern? Whats that worth to you monetarily ?

G550 4x4 squared is another pain in the ...

You have to literally climb the damn truck, and i am 6'0, 1 foot on sidestep and 1 foot on wheel, crouching over just to do the hood(oh back pains) dont even ask about the window trim or top light bar. /hangself

Just look at a pic of that Alfa. Good luck with that.:lol

Who uses a dull blade when shaving what are the benefits....im only doing good with sharpe blade...

I also do better with a sharp blade. But I can see why some say they like a dull blade. Sometimes I can get it to sit in the notch of the dull blade just right and it works really well. But it's hard for me to find that sweet spot.

@D34 you are a fickle person and you need to find your balls, you are overthinking the crap out of everything. I would hate to have you work for me. You need to not fear what you can't do and focus on what you can do and expand on it. You will never be anything with that wishy washy "i don't know what to do" bs. Find your sack, do your work, don't make so many excuses not to work and you might actually make some cash. That dude gave you a great opportunity and you quit after a week. You had a great opportunity to grow on someone else's dime. You need to be more sure of yourself and drop this lingering doubt bs that runs through every sentence of your post. My advice is, get into work, tint every car thrown at you, it may take you a long stretch to do it, you may get pissed and have to redo it, but you'll be no different than any other tinter who messes up and has to figure it out and learn something new. Are you waiting to tint every single car a dozen times before you feel good about yourself? But hey the choice is yours, McDonalds is hiring until you can figure out that you have to actually make an attempt at something to succeed.

Go back to that job, take on every car and take the time to do it right and you'll never regret me calling you out on your wishy washy attitude. Good luck, i truly hope you succeed.

Tough love.:lol Sometimes we all need it.

Those things suck! We used to fill and freeze gallon containers to sit in the pan at the bottom. None of us noticed ant difference while working. Just an expensive fan.

Location is big with evap coolers. Her in Utah it is very dry in the summer. We have the big port-a-cool. It works decently well. Not ice cold but will drop about 10 degrees in the shop.Shop is 1800 ft2. If I owned the building I would install central air in a heat beat.

  6. I have gotten 2 under my belt now. Both done in Xpel XR ceramic. I can't speak for you Crystalline guy because I know that film is another beast, but it really is not bad to do. The rear window is more time consuming because of the size. But they have been priced accordingly so I have felt good about doing  them. I used a 60" and shrank to the sides. Then I back rolled the film from the bottom to the top. Use a bit of extra slip to give you the extra time to squeegee out the water from the back glass. The plastic around the back glass sticks out a bit farther then the frit edge. So when you cutting make sure your not following the plastic and cutting it short.  I have talked with more owners then the ones I have tinted.Seems these owner are going to be a different breed. They act like they are Elon Musk himself. :facepalm:prof

  7. Pics can be very off depending on the angle. Most look darker in a pic to me. Don’t forget many factors come in to play that will make 2 different cars with the same film look different. Window size and angle. Then dark to light interior makes a huge difference.

Don’t take this the wrong way. Just remember you having a hard time deciding on a film and being particular on the look you want is your opinion and choice. What I am getting at is once you choose and have it installed, if its not exactly what you wanted that is on you not the installing shop. I just say this because I have had customers in the past that have had the same difficulty level choosing, and when all was done if they thought it was too dark/light or didn’t like the hue it then became the fault of the installer. Good luck in what ever choices you decide. 👍

  8. I do not because we do not do paint correction. Ceramic coating are starting to be everywhere. Unfortunately I don't think that's a good thing. The guys I know that do it spent many hours and are extremely meticulous with the paint. Now it seem many guys just slap it on and go.I think it's going to cheapen the product.

I appreciate all of the replies.  The reason I chose this particular tint shop and had high expectations was because they did a fantastic job on my neighbor's 2007 Chevy Silverado. The tint job on his car is flawless compared to mine and he said he spent around $140 a couple years ago. I guess it just depends on the employee and the employee's craftsmanship. I've heard of people paying as much as $350 and had many unacceptable flaws.

I will be patient and see if most of the bubbles go away. The tint guy said if I am not satisfied to bring it back but he did say I was picky,  LOL.

    Mahalo!

Not all cars are the same to tint. You could do 2 Silverado"s in the amount of time it takes to do an accord.
