  1. Sorry about that, first glance I thought it was PPF I was looking at.
  2. Yeah, not such a good idea. If I was a customer taking my car to be worked on and some dude came out taking pictures and documenting damage, I would think they have a big problem damaging cars, and what the heck are they doing that has the potential to damage my car? Heck yeah, I'd inspect it well afterwards. And like others said, you are opening yourself up to owning everything you didn't document.
  3. What shrinking technique are you using? What kind of window are you practicing on and what film are you using? Welcome to the forum!
  4. Happy Independence Day weekend everybody. Long may it wave.
  5. You have to push that black pin part until the white part can compress and go back into the hole.
  6. These? You have to turn the flat part in like a screw. Is it a different kind?
  7. I see your point, I just tend to try to cut my losses when dealing with unreasonable people.
  8. Give their money back and send them on their way, then hope they don't blame you for everything they find wrong with the car for the next year.
  9. I've tinted a couple of cars and have never had one that didn't have some kind of small flaw. I know the type of customer you have and they will never be satisfied and they will make sure you do not profit on their job. It's just they way they are. Dodge that bullet and toss that turd over the fence.
  10. There is the possibility of scratching when you make your cut, so use new blades and don't push too hard.
  11. It's doable, hardest thing will be getting a straight cut.
  12. Hey @TomTint, I respect and appreciate that you have an opinion, but man, time to move on I think. Now people are leaving the forum because of this and that kind of defeats the purpose. Plus this isn't the first scrap you've gotten into here lately. I think you should take a break from here Tom. Thanks for understanding.
  13. Hey, I'm trying to be nice about this. It needs to stop.
  14. I think that's enough guys. Back on topic please.
  15. In my humble opinion, the manufacturer isn't responsible. You didn't buy the installation from the manufacturer, you bought it from an installer who bought the film from the manufacturer. It's not the manufacturer's fault that the product wasn't installed properly and they didn't sell a defective product. It's the installer who needs to make it right.
  16. One of the tags says stpetelocation so they must have a new distribution point in St Pete Fl.
  17. I'm a high school drop out and was kicked out of the house at 17 with nothing. I slept where I could and worked any job I could get to get on my feet until I finally started tinting in 1986 when I was about 19. This was before the heat shrinking days. (Tinters now don't know how easy they have it. :lol )

When I was about 30 I got on the internet with "WebTV". They offered free website hosting, not knowing anything about it, I signed up. Tried to get "TintMan" as a username and it was already taken, so "TintDude" was born.

The little site I built was one page, with a picture of the sun, saying who I was, what I did and if anyone had tinting questions to email me and I'd help.

So many of the same topics came up, I decided to publish some of the more common questions and answers until a nice little site was going. At this point I started a forum on a free forum site. It got pretty busy so I decided to buy the domain name tintdude.com in 1999 and incorporate the pages I'd made along with the forum onto one site.

It's been nearly 23 years doing this forum thing and it's been quite the wild ride for me. I've learned a lot about myself, about other people and tinting of course.

I hope at some point along the way I made a positive difference for someone in this miserable world.

A big thank you to everyone who has ever been a part of this!

Time flies. I remember a few years ago when I stumbled upon your site. At that time there was no FB and much less public information to be found on the innerweb.. I'm not exactly sure when I signed on here but it must be 10-12 years ago now. ..I as well started in the 80s.... heat shrinking as you said was not en vogue yet. I can remember shrinking some of my first cars and my film supplier freaking out saying I was ruining the film...

  18. It might be that I had deleted mine earlier when I thought it wasn't working and now it won't let me ad one I guess.
