They have had a 20% out for a year or two now.

Stewy reacted to hipertec in Lambo Huracan Tint - Dub IR or 3M Crystalline
Thanks for the input. With Crystalline, isn't it only 20% and it's not too dark as others?
Unless I go 20% all the way around with the cystalline but I think it will be too dark? -

Can't speak to the Dub IR but 3M Crystalline is solid in terms of performance and quality/longevity. Maybe @Stewy can chime in on the Dub film, pretty sure he uses it.

Stewy reacted to ErieTint in Huge Shoutout and Thanks
Just wanted to say thanks @OverLord for his huge HUGE help on a 1995 C4 Corvette back hatch yesterday.
Burned up a couple pieces of (ceramic) film on my own and became super frustrated. Car has been sitting in my shop for a week while I mentally cooled down and debated how much more film I wanted to trash.
David was nice enough to stop by the shop and lend me a hand. When I say lend I mean he drove well over an hour each way to school me on how to tint a 'Vette.
I've not been doing this as long as a lot of you but days like yesterday give me hope. This truly is an industry of sharing knowledge and helping your fellow tinter. Hopefully I can put in as many successful years as some of the guys here.
Appreciate the help man, more than you can imagine. Tell Ann thanks too for being patient with us. My fiancé gets antsy when its "guy time" because she knows the clock almost seems to stop.
Next time we will have to catch up for something less work related, maybe when @jh812 is back in this neck of the woods.

Stewy got a reaction from florida tinter in how to get a entry level job as a window tinter?
There are soooo many shops looking for tinters. Too much work not enough tinters. Go to Yelp and call everyone.

Stewy reacted to Jake in Decent affordable tint and tools to learn?
I don't respond to post like this normally, but I am seeing it all to often. I understand your not trying to, but this is a slap in the face to many here. You say your extremely determined to start a business? Just any business, or a tinting business? But your not willing to sacrifice and do what it takes to do it right. This is a major issue in our industry. I'm all for new up and coming people, but it needs to be viewed more seriously. Although I was young when I started, I was married, and took quite a big pay cut to go apprentice in a shop and learn the TRADE. In the beginning of our business we struggled for a good amount of years. We invested 10's of thousands of dollars upfront. Even 18 years later it it can be hard at times. So if you really want to enter the window film industry, put in the time and sacrifice to do it right. It's a trade just like any other. The only difference is it has no regulation for entrance. If you just want any business and tint looks like a easy one to jump into, you will be in for a rude awakening. I know some will not like this post, and say "don't worry people will just come to you for the redo's" but I don't believe that's the case. It is a thorn in the side of the window film industry.(automotive mostly).I'm not trying to be rude. I hope you do start in the tint life ,correctly, and thrive in it.

Stewy reacted to Blackwolftinting in Tinting friends and coworkers rides
My best advice as a window tinter with 24 years of experience: Stop. Put down the window tint and tools. Run for your life. DO NOT quit your day job. Sometimes I think about throwing everything in the garbage and getting a job flipping burgers or selling women’s shoes. It would be much less stressful.

Stewy reacted to Jake in Whats up BOSS!
I am actually really glad i posted this. The responses have given me a new outlook. I just blow it off now. I had a young guy call me boss about 5 times in a short conversation the other day. I was all I could do to not start laughing. He was a really nice kid though. I'm just going to start responding with " hey Tiger" haha J/K

Stewy reacted to 863JOE in 2018 Accord back window warning
Happened to me at work twice now, thought I should give the warning. First time I thought it was a fluke, second time I noticed a pattern.
When you squeeze out the back window, the water will run PERFECTLY down the drivers side, down the inner quarter and funnel over a wiring harness that's part of the blindspot monitoring system, triggering a fault on the dash and saying see the dealer. Thankfully I work for a Honda dealership, so no biggie.
If in the event this happens to you- pop the trunk, pull back the trunk liner on the left hand side by removing the cargo hook tucked in the corner (pressure clipped in) and peel it back. The harness is right there when you pull it back, you can't miss it. Unplug both harnesses and take compressed air and blow all the water out and you're back in business. Won't throw a hard code, no need to go to the dealer if it happens.
Figured I'd save everyone the panic attack.

Stewy reacted to Sunbreakers in Where can I hire experienced window tinters?
If you want one who is experienced, does good work, and dependable he already has a job. You have to train them to have them and even then..... Good luck with your search. If you find more than one send him south. LOL!!

Stewy got a reaction from Diablo's Tint in Got our first Hail car!
I got about 40 dents out. I dont have time to do it right now. We are hella busy with tint and PPF. I need to hire a tinter so I can step away from it. Still working on it everyday though. The good thing is that we have it for a while. Monday is slammed with tint. But, I have maybe an average of 1 tint per day next week. We plan on having it done by end of next week. I got another 100 dents on the roof and another 40 on the bed. Also ordered more glue and tabs and lighting.

Stewy got a reaction from Diablo's Tint in Paintless Dent Removal classes
@highplains went back and forth like crazy. Ended up doing Ding King. It was a great experience! I think that going through them was the best decision. If I would of went with the other smaller training they would of been explaining things to me that is beyond my knowledge and it would be hard to retain. Ding King will also offers to retrain for free if I feel as if I didnt learn anything. Their advance class is also free. I am going to go back in 6 months to do their basketball size dent training.

Quoted it extremely low. $3k, I would do it for free just to get more practice. Here is a pic of the hood. A total of 80 Dents.
