Looking for software with *full* coverage kits
by Guest paperfootball- 5 replies
- 1.3k views
We have used LLUMAR's precision cut and a few others, but they do not have full hoods, fenders, etc. We have been making these pieces from bulk, but would like to have software so that I could cut them on the plotter. I would like high-quality, precise-fitting kits, price is secondary to quality. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance..

Had a BMW in today and covered the B & C pillars as well as the mirror "posts" with PPF. Instead of a flat black, now they're glossy black, looks much better with the tinted windows

Our PPF Display 1 2
by Guest LindyM- 11 replies
- 3.3k views
Our company has been doing vehicle graphics and wraps for over 12 years and just added PPF to our list of services. We decided to dedicate a wall for this new service and used a QX since I had that bumper laying around. The mural is 8'x8' printed vinyl with matte laminate. The fog lights are printed vinyl mounted on foamboard. The top deck you see is a foamboard template that will later be made from a harder substrate. We applied the film to half the bumper then threw rocks at it to show customers how well it protects. Not only does this service as an informative display but also holds some brochures and magazines. I'm still not finished with the wall as I still need to p…

We did the silver a while back but it had a run in with a ramp in double decked trailer and required a reinstall. The Red got the whole package: full hood, mirrors, headlights, front bumper, rocker panels, a-pillars, roof impact, front and rear splash guards, and door edges on the carbon fiber side blades.

XPEL and PRO-TECT FILM training
by Guest Islander- 7 replies
I was thinking of taking both the XPEL course in San Antonio and the PRO-TECT FILM course in Las Vegas. Is this a good idea or would I be wasting my money and should just pick one training facility and concentrate on practicing at home? I know they both carry different brands of film and maybe it might be good to be "certified" in both for certain applications. Also does anyone know about STAR SHIELD ARMOR or ECO-TINT / LAS VEGAS PAINT PROTECTION? Just some other training facilities I've also looked into. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, Thank You!

Hi my name is Lindy, and I have been in the vehicle wrapping business for 12 years and decided to give PPF a try. I have a 40" DGI plotter running Llumars software. TOday I was going to cut the bumper pattern for a new LS and as the plotter wend back and forwards tue film would bunch up and cling to itself and cause a jam. What am I doing wrong ? Thanks in Advance !

Is it possible? I realized by research that there are no authorized dealers in South America, but I´m very interested on bringing the clear bra system in our market. If there was any way to do it, I´d be buying large amounts of the product soon. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks in advance!

I don't know about anybody else, but the alcohol in the tack solution destroys my hands. They're always dry, flakey, and cracked. I've literally tried everything to cure this but nothing worked. I did a car this past weekend and the guy gave me a spray to use on them. It's called Na-PCA. It's all natural, no chemicals. I've used it since Sunday and my hands are about 75% healed. It's only about $5 from online retailers. Best of all, it's non oily and I actually used it before installing and it doesn't come off on the film.

Help with PPF
by Guest scottydosnntkno- 8 replies
So I decided that I'm going to see about adding PPF into my services(LOTS of classic car shows around here, after all, it is the D) and have a few questions. I picked up a 18"x15' sample of Ventureshield to install on my car, but have a few questions. The hood piece went down fine with no major issues, except for one thing: How do you get the film to stick when you roll it over the front of the hood? I tired using the 30/70 alcohol mix and it still kept wanting to pop up? When I was attempting to do the front quarters, I had the same thing with edges and trying to roll it under. It seems to be too thick to conform, and doesn't want to stick around? I hav…

I owe this to 3M after trashing them pretty good. I figured I had nothing to lose by trying to get more volume by letting them professionally set up one of my dealerships. This past week we did sales training and set up the dealership. In the last 2 days, I've already got 6 cars out. This is up from about 2 per month from before. We also have another group almost locked down and a foot in the door in another. I figured what the hell, lets see what they can do with a "dead" account. I got a call from my rep this morning and they committed to loading show room cars and getting with a sales program. Although that account gave me a couple cars a month, they sell almost 2k car…

I wanted to create this topic to warn everybody the tactics 3M is using to undermine it's very installers who helped build this business. This is long but I'll start from the beginning. I started doing PPF 5 years ago after buying it for my own car and found the installation rather easy. About 2 years ago I was contacted by the new Northeast 3M rep. and offered me a meeting with one of their "developers". It turns out these "developers" as they call them, are aftermarket warranty companies that are already in dealerships interested in selling PPF at their dealerships. PPF doesn't install itself so they were contacting local installers for the labor. Essentially, they …

I did a friend of mines 2009 CRV, and it was black. The hood was ridiculous. I admit to being self taught to a certain degree. I did his CRV last week and he called me back about some bubbles (it was fingers along the edge). I pulled the ppf off the hood and decided it would bulk it so I would have some leverage to pull around the problem areas...I couldnt do it. So I cut the ppf out on the plotter as a kit and cut it an inch wider than needed. I still got fingers that took forever to keep down and white moisture in various areas, along with areas where you could tell a finger was. I have been using just soap and water, but using alcohol to tack down certain areas …

How do you usually lay the film on to the bumper? Do you usually have another person help you lay the film on to the bumper? Or do you lay it on by yourself? Bumper is such a big piece that I think its impossible to lay the film on to the bumper by yourself. If I am wrong, I would like to know how to do it by myself. Like a bumper that uses 24 to 30 inch film with 80 plus inches in length.

PPF Class

Anyone have any suggestions on the "better" class to attend for PPF? Or is anyone close to the central IL area interested in teaching me?
Last reply by TINTZEUS, -
I have wanted to make a post like this for some time, simply as a response to up-starts and hack-jobs that have wrecked havoc in our market and many others. We charge the most in our area, and people and business pay because this is what the competition puts out. This first picture is of a Lamborghini Murcielago. Who ever installed this kit used a film than shrank and a tried to seam the fender. The result is a dark line of exposed adhesive and loads of adhesive marks. This next vehicle is an 09 Jaguar FX. The owner of this vehicle bought it (without the clearbra) from one of our oldest clients, but choose thought the dealerships price was too high and said he knew …

can anyone help me with this? I need a clear protector for the rear panel where the top comes in contact with the body, keeps the paint protected. I can get a picture of the part. Another question is can you heat and stretch bulk film around a corner, I haven't tried this before. Didn't know how well it would stay, seems like it would want to lift under the stress. Any help would be great, thank you.
