Had to bulk cut copy a single 15'' fender pattern on a Black metallic GT fender that was sent from repair shop . Had to use 3M film to match clear coat on existing sections... and could not shake off a slight stretch/ pull impression on the mid top center point area. The other side had the stretch marks on all perimeter areas [pre cut]. Any Maserati GT advice from someone who has ppf time on this car.

Need clearbra install in Boston area... will travel a bit for quality 1 2

Need clearbra installed on the bumper, front portion of the hood (18" or so) and front facing parts of fenders on a Subaru Legacy GT. The bumper is not stock so requires bulk install (unless one has patterns from Japanese spec Legacy). Would appreciate recommendations in Boston area or even further... would travel a bit for a quality job. Looking for clearcoated film, preferably 3M.

08 M3 headlight washer removal
by Guest timeattack07gt- 5 replies
- 1.2k views
Hey guys, quick question. I'm doing a 08 E93 M3 early next week and unfortunately it has the cold weather package, which includes fixed headlight washers that protrude a fair amount from the bumper. The customer wants a raw material application, so I don't have the option of a pre-cut. Anyway, are these washers easily removable? If so, how do you go about removing them without damaging the car? Thanks for saving me the headache if possible...

How to tell apart 3m film from others?
by Guest unclemat- 5 replies
- 1.3k views
Hello... I am going to have car clear bra'ed. How to tell apart 3m clear bra film from others? I saw some rolls of film the guy I may end using had - the paper backing had no 3m logos, anything. I am wondering if scotchguard actually comes with something printed on the paper, perhaps not. The issue is I am not able to really screen the installer, hence I am not sure I can trust him. Of course the proper installation is far more important than the film, although I'd like to get what I am being told I will... thanks! (note, I realize not everyone considers 3m film the best)

Graphtec CE-5000-60 settings
by Guest jain1980- 1 reply
- 2.2k views
Went ahead and got hold of a CE5000-60 for cutting paint protection Film. I have used the settings as : Downforce - 14,Speed - 7,Quality - 1 I have many small squares and circles around 5mm dia in my plots but unable to weed out those properly.Weeding is very difficuly without spoiling the Film.I think the cuts are full as the release liner is getting the plot marks. What's the optimum settings and what's the best technique to weed out PPF without spoiling the rest of the Film as I need it to stay on the liner. Do I need to change to 60* Blades ?

Insurance for working at dealerships
by Guest timeattack07gt- 8 replies
- 1.5k views
Hey guys, I'm looking to get my foot in the door at a couple of potential dealerships and bodyshops in my area. I was just wondering if some type of insurance is required/mandatory when working at dealerships in case of any costly mishaps. Also, what else would be neccesary for getting an account at delerships besides a business liscense and other marketing tools, such as brochurers, pricing guide, etc. I just want to make sure I have everything together and everything I need before I approach them, just so I look more professional and trustworthy. Anywa, thanks for any help or suggestions!

I have homed in on Graphtec CE-5000-60 for cutting VentureShield PPF. Is it a good choice ? What advantages does a FC-7000 Series hold over the CE-5000 with regard to cutting Paint Protection Films. Will the CE series get my job done..I am not going to use more than 24" since I plan to do only Bikes.

Cutting around emblems that cannot be removed? 1 2
by Guest timeattack07gt- 15 replies
- 3.6k views
Hey guys, I did a full hood on a 08 Prius yesterday and was just wondering what the best method is for cutting precisely around the the emblem? The emblem was attached using doublesided tape so I didn't want to remove the thing, and since my plotter isn't large enough to cut 58" rolls I was forced to cut around the emblem using my olfa. The problem is is that on some of these cars the emblems stick way the hell out from the paints surface (roughly 1/4"), and often requires a stretch around the emblem to prevent dog ears (fingers) from forming around the circumference of the emblem, which can often distort the texture of the film, especially when squeegeed down on hotter d…

Coupe Proform Installs
by Guest Josh @ Proform- 4 replies

This vehicle received full hood, one piece full fenders (surprisingly not that difficult to install) and bumper. The bumper needs one more test fit and should be uploaded next week. Mark and I covered the font fairing, headlight, front fender and tank areas. The only difficult part about working on bikes is how pliable the fairings and fenders can be, like the front fairing on this bike. Thanks Mike at Pro-Tect, for giving Mark and I these installs.

XPEL Roadshow was fun
by Guest darkdan- 2 replies

I got a chance to play around with the film some more and the gel. Met some nice folks. I also learnt that XPEL has a cutting software option for those of us that don't do a lot of volume. The films install a bit different than 3M (less tacky), but went on really easily with low silvering and such. Plenty of times though I had trouble getting it to stick when I wanted it to. I'm sure I could adjust. The gel seemed neat, but I don't know if I can afford it. LOL. If one is coming to your area I recommend signing up. It's a good way to spend a day.

I have never took notice of the rear bubble PDC sensors on this pre 997 body 911 Carrera. I will be bulking the rear and thought it would look great to remove the little buggers for a custom stealth look.. Is removeing the complete cover the only way to detach them? or has any one popped them out with success?
