Right now I am using First cut and as far as I know it is pretty good, but I have had a couple problems with it I.e. Lines in the film or pattern doesn't seem to be quite right. I have tried the one that the Llumar distributor carried but I can't remember the name, it sucked domkey balls. I had heard that Avery,a patterns and material were top notch but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Just wanted to get everyones two cents. I know that everyone is going to be partial to there own but maybe y'all could give me some selling point and tell me what you don't like about the others you have used. Thanks

3M installer in Baton Rouge, LA for a redo
by Guest AndyCBR- 2 replies

New to the forum. I got interested in PPF when I got my wife a new car. I was tired of all of the front end chips and bug damage. Anyway got a local installer to do a 3m kit. The fact that he had to order the kit should have been a red flag but I was ignorant at the time. The install is lackluster at best with lots of hard card marks and stretch ripples at the edges. When questioned at pickup he said it would lay down over time and to bring it back if I wasn't happy. It's 8 months after the install and some of the edges are coming up on the grill pieces and there is trash under the edge that is causing the bumper cover to collect dirt at the edge where it never a…

New Proform Products
by Guest Josh @ Proform- 0 replies
Proform, in response to customer demand and market conditions, has decided to release 2 new lines of design products: “Full upper” kits and “12 inch upper (value kits)”. “Full uppers” Full upper kits consist of full hood, full fender and mirror designs nested on a single design file for the low cut fee of $25, a savings of $33 over the previous full hood and full fender cut fee totals. Proform will continue to design 30 inch full fenders for those full fenders whose width exceeds a 30 inch roll size. Additionally, when ever possible Proform will nest the fenders such that every little (if any) rotation or repositioning will be required to fit on a 30 inch roll size sh…

Graphtec Blade and Plotter settings for cutting Avery Denisson TopCoat
by Guest jain1980- 9 replies
- 6.4k views
Hi, What would be the ideal Blade and settings on a Graphtec FC7000 to cut Avery Denisson TopCoat... I am having a horrid time weeding the film as the adhesive of this film is very strong.I am getting incomplete cuts as shown in the attachement. I am currently using the default CB09 blade with force and speed set to 20. If I increase the force to 22 it cuts into backing slightly but the weeding still doesn't improve. Any opinions from the Avery pros wud be appreciated.

Hey ya'll I'm newish to PPF and am wondering if you use simple green or spray nine to clean the paint of factory glue and stuff like that. I guess asking what you do use would be a better question.

Excited about going to vegas

I have been installing clear bras on all kinds of trucks, cars etc, And kinda jumped in pretty fast, I have done a ton of full clips and hard cars imo, like the isf, zr1 corvettes, and others. I get them done the look great but it always seemed like I barely did it if you know what I mean. So being self taught is working but being a perfectionist its not good enough, so im going out to tighten up my skills and bringing a guy out to train from scratch. I have seen the work these guys do on cars and its beautiful so im hoping to get the confidence and speed up the ppf process by understanding the films. I will let you all know how it goes when im finished.

Just as the topic reads Plotter for sale. The plotter is roughly 4 years old and in perfect condition it was used for PPF and purchased from Xpel. I'm asking $1300.00 OBO plus shipping. I am in the Nor Cal bay area and would really like to sell it local to avoid shipping cost so I could be more motivated to sell to someone in the area. I want to get rid of it so make me a reasonable offer.

I have a request to cover the window over the engine next week. Not keen on doing this but the customer really wants it done. I'm thinking the heat from the engine will surely cause problems for the film and I'd be the one that has to remove it after its been cooked at 8500 RPM and sat in daily traffic during rush hour. There's probably many more reasons why its not a good idea (feel free so I can print it out and take with me), but has anyone ever done this?

G35 + PPF + Deer === PRICELESS!!!
by Guest oasisglatint- 4 replies

The picture is not the best, I had a tough time with lighting, and only had my phone to use, but....... Had a repeat custy yesterday to get his 5 series tinted. While I was ringing him up, he mentioned ppf for the car. He asked me to step outside and look at his wife's G35 that I had put a FULL front package on about a year and a half ago. I'm thinking, " o snap". He said " that stuff REALLY works". He pointed out a spot on the hood, about an inch or so up from the swoop, where the paint had cracked. I'm looking closely, thinking what the HELL!!! He told me he hit a deer . You what????? Hit a deer. It busted all the clips that hold the grill in, not the grill, and…

I was told this was the first sold in the US, but I'm not too sure. They were demo-ing them at the local dealership, flying people from various lexus dealerships from around the country to take the cars to the track. They claim 170 in the straight aways. Something was up with our camera, these were the only photos that came out ok. This vehicle will be available in the Proform DAP database Monday.

Dealership work is the biggest part of my business and its dropped off big time. Those of you that do just retail work, how's that been holding up? I got away from that market for the most part a while back so I have no way of knowing if its as bad as new car sales.

has anyone ever removed [AVDEN] film from an every day driver car and had adheasive transfer from this PPF. I would think this film is removal friendly even after years of Northeast weather. First time for every thing and I plan on charging for this service so I hope it goes smooth.Any [avden] experts with tips will be helpful.

Hand cut PPF 1 2 3
by TintJunkie- 25 replies

To those of you who hand cut PPF... . My butthole would be clenched so tight if I did them that way, so so scared of getting too deep. Although, with a precut, there is still trimming. I suppose it would be easier to stretch a bulk piece, but holy scary, to cut into an $80,000 car such as a GTR gives me chills. BTW, the GTR was easy. You guys are the kings of PPF. Maybe, MAYBE, I'll try it your way.

We've been waiting for the GTR for some time now and finally had one delivered last week. This vehicle received full hood, full fenders, mirrors, headlights, front bumper, rocker panels, rear splash guards, a-pillars, and gas cap coverages. The fenders were a little tricky but everything else was pretty standard.

customer has 5 month old install done by a 12 volt joint and has no more shine left..The PPF film is A/D/popular brand but ..car is shore exposed out doors parked daily driver.... Will the largest S/G or C/S film cover this hood? I will be redoing the car and will prefer to wrap/edge the hood in one shot. I have never had one in my shop for tint yet and these are rare cars. This new client was sold on my Porsche installs seen at an area car show and I don't want to let her down so good heads up is a must.
