before i was mobile, i had 3gal tank.  great with a good tip.  only drawback was adjusting slip for my ceramic film which was aggressive requiring more slip.

    concept for a P3 sprayer.
add a valve stem to pressurize from air hose.  charges small tank like a paintball gun for air or CO2 pistol ,  regulator to maintain at say 40psi?
2-4 ounce internal holder for slip with adjuster for mix. slip would be mixed at tip when sprayed, not added to water.

thought a paintball repair store could make the mods,   If someone thinks they can make it,  be happy to pay for it within reason LOL

I'm sorry but this is a forum for those in the industry, you came here originally for advice regarding a tint job for your car, then called us lazy, was asked to leave, now you're giving advice about running a shop?

I'm confused why you are here.

with the guys i have trained in the past, i felt it took 2 years to really get it down-and that is with direction.  not that you couldn't tint a window sooner-i just felt that it took that long to really be confident and adept at tinting a full car with no trouble.  i have to add that i take things really slow when training.

so don't give up.  and remember, you can make money and not be perfect.  turn some jobs out.  do the best you can. and then fix your mistakes if they get noticed.  when you fix your mistakes and you are not getting paid for your time, you learn quick.

Working on a piece of heavy equipment in the middle of no where a wasp crawled onto my hand as I was making a cut. I went to shake him off but he held on for dear life and got all pissy so I swatted at him forgetting my blade was open. 37 stitches.

Hey guys! I'm just starting out tinting vehicles.

I've taken a 2 days course for the installation certificate already. And I've done a total of 6 cars. I also have some experience with residential film (even before the course).

Since I alread have a business, this is a new service we're offering our customers, so I already get some paid clients. The problem is I don't yet feel confident and I take too long to do the job. Altough all works I've delivered I made sure they were close to perfect. But, I cannot practice without customers, but I don't feel 100% confident to take on customers. Also, I don't want to take on free jobs because I'm afraid it could hurt my business rep.

How did you guys started out? What was your process? 🙂

I'm 54 and can tint a new Camry or Corolla in under an hour. It's not about being fast, it's about knowing what to do next without even thinking about it.
With (lots) of repetition, comes seamless motion, and that is what makes you fast.

They made a change to the film a couple years ago. It was to make the liner pull easier, which it does now. Also, scratching is gone and it scratched the same as global did for me. In the end, no matter the film they will all be gone after 7-10 years of heavy exposure. Nothing is much better than the next. I once removed f1 pinnacle at the 10 yr. mark once and it wad bubble and distorted just like the cheap shiat.

Kinda shows you who had your back. Tint guy wants to pay and the Dealer could've easily paid to fix what is obviously their issue told you to F right off. Sick of car dealers, one of the biggest purchases you make and they act like they're not responsible for that $80 grid.

Yeah, that is the problem with dealerships, as soon as you get anything done to your vehicle they want to void warranties. We had an issue with a Honda dealership when my wife took her new Honda HRV in for a dying battery. They instantly blamed the led lights and remote starter system for draining the battery even though this is a common issue. Cool, we told them we would take everything out to see if it still persists even though I knew that had nothing to do with it. The next day I was taking it to the shop, I noticed the gauge cluster was milky looking and fogged up. When we pull it out, they clearly dropped it and super glued it back together. There was two brackets glued back on, glue was all along the seam where the front/back of the cluster meet, etc. We took it back with everything removed, the battery issue still there, and now with this new issue. They tried to blame the shop (they didn't know I own the shop) saying that we had to tap into the back of the cluster. That's when I go from 0-100 quickly since that is completely false since it was only a remote starter add-on and speed is now tracked through GPS, so need to hook up a speed sense wire. We ended up going through 3 different bosses for them to finally admit they probably broke it and they replace it. Now she is not comfortable taking it back to them and looking to trade it in on something that is not a Honda.

On the tint side of things, you can only completely remove portions of a defroster not loosen it, if it was 3 days old it was a manufacturers defect. Go to different dealer for the warranty work they're trying to blame the tint guy. This is not uncommon for this to be a manufacturers defect and 3 days in very likely is and your service manager is likely full of it. The grids are either loose or not, especially 3 days in..
I'll also add if the tint guy did do anything to cause a defect in the defroster it would more likely happen removing tint or happen on a much older car not a 3 day old car. You should thank the tint guy for pointing this issue out early for you. Don't listen to car dealers, go to another car dealer and just say it was loose so you're not giving them an out by saying it was at a tint place that didn't install tint on defective defroster grid.
If you're going to try make the tint guy pay for a glass he didn't touch (or in your words "..he didn't apply tint") and warned you it was defective, then i'd tell you to kiss my ass you're lucky i'm even replacing it let alone OEM. Youre lucky the tint guy doesn't just tell you to get lost.

Honestly, I would bet the tint shop is correct and it was defective from the start. This is not uncommon, many models are bad for this...you can literally wipe a micro fiber across the defroster lines and move them. There have been threads on here about Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, and Porsche having this issue. Personally, if we caught this before tinting it, we would not cover it. It would need to be covered by the dealer since it is most likely defective glass.
