Can anyone recommend Sungard as tinting film? I have a friend who's getting it done on his car and the installer said that he's tried other brands such as LLumar, Matico, SolarGaurd, 3M, but have not had as good of results as Sungard. Anyone else here use it? Cheers

I was at another shop this morning shrinking the rear window when a kid comes up to me and asks if the film goes on the outside. So I look over and say "kinda" and ignore him (an't my shop, just there once inwhile to tint), then the guy asks if I install stereos. I (without looking at him) say I "just tint windows". So then he procedes to ask if I wet sand and buff cars (guess his hearing aid did'nt work), So I just said "nope" and give em a Well I had lunch with the wife and told her about this, and she says I'm getting grumpy in my older age I'm starting to catch my self getting shorter with customers though I wonder if OT started this way in his late 30s, or if …

Gaps in tintjob...refund or redo? Help please 1 2

Hello, I own a 1966 Checker marathon. It is my baby and only want the best for it. Today I found a shop that uses LLumar, quality, and has a nice guy for an owner. I was overwhelmed and extremely excited because I knew a tint job would completely clean up the look on my car. Anyways, I take the car in at 2 and he tells me it will be ready by 5:30-6. I was in no hurry and when I later learned it wouldn't be ready till 6:30 because of shift rolldowns I said sure thats fine. I really didn't care. I go to the shop and I love it. This is one of the coolest things I've done to the car thus far. Anyways, I take a quick look at it and he shows me some spots where I…

Tinting a Taxi 1 2
by Guest permanentjaun- 11 replies
- 1.6k views
Hello, I drive a 1966 Checker marathon. They used these cars as taxi's back in the day. I have restored mine to look like an authentic New York Taxi. It is painted yellow and is complete with checkers, decals, and even prices. My next investment on the car is going to be to tint the windows. I only want the rear window, back roll down windows, and back quarter windows tinted. I'd like them to be tinted as black as possible. I live in New Jersey so any tint is allowed on those windows. The rear window is the only curved one but the others are completely flat. Could you all please give me an estimate on how much I will pay to have it done in a shop? Since I onl…

Looking for Windshield Options 1 2 3
by Guest Ibizan- 21 replies
- 1.7k views
Hey all, I'm getting my car tinted for the first time. Using 35% all around except for the windshield because I'm afraid it would be too dark. I'm trying to decide if I should go with a higher percentage or use a 6" banner strip similar to one that my buddy used (see pic). My primary concern for tinting the entire windshield is visability, but is it possible to have protection, a decent degree of shading, and see clearly? Cheers.

Here in this area most of us tinting kinda grew up together tinting at the same original tint shop so we all speak tint and can understand each other even with a mouth full of squeegy or olfa. couple buggers = small particles of dust under the film...tolerable Worm = either a hair or sliver of film / liner caught between the film and the glass..slight possibility of removal. trash = cluster of particles...might as well redo it, usually unsalvageable Finger = place where the film meets the curve of the glass and will not lay down without creasing unless heated and shrunk Are these the Standard in your area, too?

Tint Job in DC 1 2 3

I live in washington dc, and I am looking to get my '04 subaru wrx tinted. I went to the only place I know that does tinting around here LaTint (www.latint.com) They quoted me 150 for "classic" (dyed) 229 for metallic reflective and 269 for non-reflective metallic. These prices seem a bit high...should I haggle them for a lower price, or does anyone know another place in the area I could go.

customer beat me back into my shop first thing thismorning, for 2 doors on a super crew, the guy watched and gave every damn dumbass question that their is, from "oh that goes on the outside" to "is the sticker go to dry like that" because the adhesive was milky looking but the stupidest thing ever I heard was "how are we going to get all that water inside my door dry?" freaking morons

I was looking for a way to get a 2 way mirror effect on a clear acrylic case from http://www.clearpc.ca for a system I am building. I came accross this board while researching where to find some 2 way mirror sheets I had seen several years ago. I wonder if a static cling product is available or if there is a deep silver mirror tint that would do the job. The effect I want to achieve is to have the tint applied to the inside of the clear case and when lights on the inside go on the 2 way mirrors become somewhat see through to show the inside components. Additionally there will be some UV light which will cause UV painted areas to glow. Any suggestions would be appr…

Newbie - keep geting contamination 1 2
by Guest naughtydog- 14 replies
- 1.4k views
I am sick of picking up contamination when tinting. I accept thet I am a beginner and we all have to start somewhere. I have been doing a job for a local garage and they stick me in this poxy valeting bay, the floor is dusty as hell and no matter how quick I shift the film from my "A" board to the vehicle some dust has settled on the prepped glass and voila!! - it looks like s**t. I told them they cannot expect a good result when they cannot provide the right environment. Do any of you guys get asked to tint in crappy conditions. I wont do it again.!! Naughtydog
