You'd buy something that you couldn't contact the sellers on? But i get it, i always look to see if i can find that lucky me cheap deal too. I would say give the model number and info to the tint software companies and see what their input is, they may have to write drivers for off brand plotters and this one may not be compatible at all, and they would know if anyone is using that model name with any success.

I the medium smoke would be a reasonable one to start with and I'd avoid the blue films. The last one I bought was like bright f-ing windex blue and in my opinion asking for unwanted attention from law enforcement.

I've been playing with the lighter shade of Luxe headlight film and it seems to be a good shade.
As far as the Eyesite system, that is in the windshield and is a radar type system. Only way to mess with it would be to cover the lenses in some way that are on the top of the windshield.

I'll second the Luxe film, I've used some of their mid/medium smoke and it worked well for me. The other thing would be to maybe get your headlights re-aimed down a bit.

Try doing a wet check when you’re done shrinking. That should highlight any areas that you are not shrinking enough.

Hey, I hope you are able to get your car tinted to your liking.
I am going to ask you to move on now though. Not sure why you would want to be posting around people you disdain anyway.

    Thanks.

Some people will make like they can do a spotless, crease free 5 minute shrink job every time, and i'm sure some can and will let us know as usual lol. I make mistakes like you do, everyone does. Just keep blowing thru, taking your time. One tip i'd say is change your perception of shrinking. Ever hear that "Can't see the Forest for the trees" adage? Well "you can't see the shrink for the fingers" i'd say focus on the whole shrink instead of just the finger. When you shrink try look at it not like you're shrinking that one finger but instead think like shrinking the whole film across the glass. Like shrink that first line all the way across (or half way) just doing circular motions with the gun close and no card and you'll see what i'm saying, then shrink the next line all the way across, and make as many smaller fingers as you can out of the big fingers, as the fingers get worse towards the bottom or top run your finger down the middle of the fingers and split them smaller and smaller as you go across the film, if needed pull it with your finger a little to help lock down the tops of the finger in a good direction. Think of it like shrink wrapping, if you were shrink wrapping something you'd want to do as much of it as possible together instead of focusing on one spot where you hammer it on home and overwork that one area. You're not totally trying to shrink a finger as much as you're trying to shrink wrap all the film to mold to the glass. Another thing i see in newbies is they heat the film and will get a crease because they push the card past where they heated the film into cooler film, or they didn't heat it enough to a good melting point that will accept a hard card flattening it. If you find your self at every finger trying to work out every finger on it's own without thinking about the rest of the film, you're focusing on the tree when you should be focusing on the forest.

It just takes practice and time. @Tint Slayer is right on the money with how you should approach it. That is definitely an expensive film to be practicing with but it is a good film and not the most difficult to shrink so keep at it.

Looking back I should of just got a few 100 ft rolls and just shrunk a bunch on a bg with average difficulty. Some key points to shrinking correctly are angle/distance of heat gun, how long you stay in each area and then shrinking toward the factory edge, especially in the corners. Also, need to anchor film not to high or low. Some bgs you may go a little higher or lower than center. I use my hand to hold the film for side anchor. I start shrinking in the corner for a couple seconds ‘then’ I pull film to anchor it as I shrink. If you anchor before your’re just pulling all the slack into one big pocket to shrink. I only do this on more difficult ones.

Best for a novice to use baby powder for shrinking. One thing i've noticed with people new to shrinking and using dryer sheets is they go too heavy and don't let it fully dry. I'd suggest wetting the dryer sheet with alcohol instead of water so it'll dry quicker and fully after wiping it on glass, with a thin coat on the glass, not wet solid caked up dryer sheet j1zz.
When you are learning to shrink and get a crease or burn on the first corner when you just start shrinking still complete the rest of the shrinking so you can use that piece for practice, you gain a little confidence practicing on a piece that you're not worrying about destroying. Good luck!

PA tint laws are tricky since they do not specify what a legal shade is, only that the windows have to be clear enough to see inside from the windshield and side windows. So it is completely up to the officer if they want to ticket you. Anything below 50% could be considered too dark to see inside depending on the amount of sunlight that day. However, looking at window tint shops in PA, they tend to agree anything below 70% is illegal. So this is probably the level of percentage they are confident that you will not receive a ticket. So it is completely up to you, just know if you do something like a 20%, be okay with paying a fine possibly more than one. Just to give you an idea, there is NO state that allows 20% on the 2 front doors and most do not allow it on the rear windows with the exception of SUV/Trucks. Now as far as inspection goes, I did not see any mention illegal will make you fail inspection. I would contact an inspection station to clarify this.

According to Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code Section 4524(e)(1) related to Sunscreening and other materials prohibited it states that No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sun screening device or other material which does not permit a person to see or view the inside of the vehicle through the windshield, side wing or side window of the vehicle. Subsection(2) this subsection does not apply to: (1) A vehicle which is equipped with tinted windows of the type and specification that were installed by the manufacturer of the vehicle or to any hearse, ambulance, government vehicle or any other vehicle for which a current valid certificate of exemption has been issued in accordance with regulations adopted by the department.

I own a tint shop near PGH.  Main issue I have experienced is that dealerships will not pass a vehicle for inspection if the brow is below the AS1 line.  Other than that I have not had any issues with tint.

Tint Slayer got a reaction from TNTLady in Rear defroster grid destroyed by tint shop?
On the tint side of things, you can only completely remove portions of a defroster not loosen it, if it was 3 days old it was a manufacturers defect. Go to different dealer for the warranty work they're trying to blame the tint guy. This is not uncommon for this to be a manufacturers defect and 3 days in very likely is and your service manager is likely full of it. The grids are either loose or not, especially 3 days in..
I'll also add if the tint guy did do anything to cause a defect in the defroster it would more likely happen removing tint or happen on a much older car not a 3 day old car. You should thank the tint guy for pointing this issue out early for you. Don't listen to car dealers, go to another car dealer and just say it was loose so you're not giving them an out by saying it was at a tint place that didn't install tint on defective defroster grid.
If you're going to try make the tint guy pay for a glass he didn't touch (or in your words "..he didn't apply tint") and warned you it was defective, then i'd tell you to kiss my ass you're lucky i'm even replacing it let alone OEM. Youre lucky the tint guy doesn't just tell you to get lost.

Kinda shows you who had your back. Tint guy wants to pay and the Dealer could've easily paid to fix what is obviously their issue told you to F right off. Sick of car dealers, one of the biggest purchases you make and they act like they're not responsible for that $80 grid.
