I am actually really glad i posted this. The responses have given me a new outlook.  I just blow it off now. I had a young guy call me boss about 5 times in a short conversation the other day. I was all I could do to not start laughing. He was a really nice kid though. I'm just going to start responding with " hey Tiger" haha  J/K

I'm guessing he bought the car used with the tint on it already a year and a half ago. The car is a 2012. Tint is probably much older.

This is ours. I don't have a bucket at the end though. It is just the vinyl gutters from home depot with caps on the end. Just wipe them out with a rag at the end of the day. Soaks up all the water and keeps it clean.

This thread is going to go way off topic. haha  I saved my money for a long time to build my first good skate board. It was a Psycho Stick with Gull Wing Trucks , Bullet wheels and German bearings. I ran out of money and couldn't get grip tape for a few more weeks. I need to get a repro of it. I also want a Christian Hosoi board, just because I always wanted one and never got it.

I used FVD when I first got a plotter. The patterns were very hit and miss. I have used DAP for the past year. I can say the patterns are way better. What I chalk it up to is how the patterns are being sourced. FVD patters are submitted from all different shop around the country. So consistency is an issue. DAP patterns are all made in house and tested before they are added to the system. This is for newer patterns for the past few years. Old DAP patterns are not always as good because they had to get back log from existing patterns that were not made by them. But, if you are looking for that perfect micro edge every time from a plotted pattern, it's just not going to happen. DAP is as close as you are going to get with out hand cutting though.

Nothing. Because non of them last in a place that has any kind of winter.  I see a use for high end cars that see track time but it will still need to be replaced often.

@Bham It was good to get to stop for a visit today. Told you I would try to make it more frequent .  I wish I had read your post above before I stopped by. I would have told you in person what I will type to you now.
In life I have learned that for every one or two good decisions you make there is bound to be a bad one. Not hiring you back in the 90's was a terrible decision on my part and an oversight that I should not have allowed to happen. I wasn't willing to give you a chance, didn't think you had the drive for it, and I let other folks influence my decisions when I should have at least given you an opportunity. You have proved me wrong many times...you have certainly been driven and you have achieved my achievements...your own shop. That one mistake of mine not only was very obviously my loss, but it also alienated us from each other and put a strain on our friendship maybe even still today. In front of all of these good, professional folks here on this forum, Jason,  I want you to know I am very sorry. I hope others here can learn from my mistake and always be willing to take a chance on others. I am very proud of you for what you have achieved.

Putting film on a waxed car makes it easier to squeegee out bubbles, easier to lift the film for debris, and removal years later is much easier...especially full hoods.  Just don't put wax in the door cups or areas where stretched film has to drop down like the hood scoops on a Mustang.

I've used both. Seems very similar for install. I think you can see the air release a bit more in the Vvivid.

@Jake you showed me how to snap shrink back when I was having troubles with metal film ghosting. Ever since you showed it to me I have been using the shit out of it. EVERY single car roll downs is snap shrunk, cept frameless, they seem to have a little more than usual. Anyways, YOU DA MAN JAKE!

The Xpel XRBlack is a great film, we use it everyday. Happy with the match on privacy glass. The XR Plus has more performance, but keep in mind it has a blueish look to it, making it off on color compared to most SUV privacy glass. I have the  XRPlus 35% on my Audi A4. At first I was a bit put off with the blue tone. But after  being on for a while I don't even notice it anymore. But if next to another film it is quite blue.

I think it'll happen with most films under the right lighting. I could be wrong but I've seen it several times when the light hits it just right, especially florescent.

Also guys and girls, I highly recommend that you have a release of liability waiver signed, we have had a lot of glass breakage issues, I think right around 12 windows now. Some of them were broken before we even tinted the car.

Also, keep an eye of the type of glass your working on. Some have the polarized looking glass and some do not.
