wade_660 reacted to CustomGlassTinter in Is 5% tint on the windshield reasonable?
My experience with 5% tint is it's dangerous. You just had yours done. Perhaps you haven't had much experience yet? All it takes is that one teenager skating along the sidewalk late at night wearing all black clothing, and you will see why it's dangerous.
I almost ran him over, you will too. I only had my side windows done, and always refuse to do front windshield any darker than 20% regardless of how good their eyes are. I have one kid ask me all the time, and I always respond No! You will kill someone.
Also: Blinding other driver's at night with excessive headlights is just so inconsiderate. Having to blind other drivers just so you can see through your windshield is just ridiculous.

wade_660 got a reaction from quality tintz in rear window with window wiper help
The worst window I've done recently with a wiper is a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. It's like you're in the Olfa olympics cutting that back glass.

wade_660 reacted to Jake in Who offers the option of applying a ceramic coating for your customers cars while in your shop.
I do not because we do not do paint correction. Ceramic coating are starting to be everywhere. Unfortunately I don't think that's a good thing. The guys I know that do it spent many hours and are extremely meticulous with the paint. Now it seem many guys just slap it on and go.I think it's going to cheapen the product.

wade_660 got a reaction from Tlask73 in Flat glass film removal
Hey guys. I rarely ever do any flat glass but i have an opportunity to do a pretty large job on a bank in town. Problem is, there is already film there that could possibly be from the early 80s according to the guy I’m dealing with. My question is, what tools are you using to strip this much film? Obviously a 1” razor isn’t going to cut it. The film appears to have withered away to nothing. I took my pocket knife and scratched a small spot to get an idea of what I was in for. Seems like the glue is gone and the film turned to dust almost. How would you guys go about this removal? There are 20 windows 36”x7’. it’s hard to see in the pics but the film looks cracked kinda like a desert floor.

I do them on the side. I don’t do ppf so I can’t compare profits. The biggest thing with coatings is the prep work. It’s an involved Job that I sometime wonder why I do it. Ceramic pro and gtechniq are two brands that come to mind. I like nanoskin mega trend too

I had a guy in my shop tell me that the chemical I was using (baby shampoo slip) was making his lips stick together. I still make fun of him about it.

wade_660 reacted to KonSiva in Cutting back windows with dark film (can't see)
Hey everyone, I've been looking for a light i can throw anywhere in a vehicle where i need backlight. I have tried multiple products/flashlights etc. Cant find anything that is useful, so i've created this.... looking to see what others use or what ideas you have come up with.
The pics are an led board I've created. Cheap, bright, effective and very user friendly for experienced and learning tinters.
WOULD YOU BUY ONE? How much would you pay?

wade_660 reacted to WearTheFoxHat in Tiny finger on edge of rear glass tint. Should it be worrisome? (pics)
Liberal high velocity application of Clay bricks or cinder blocks to the exterior surface of the glass will immediately remove the problem .

wade_660 reacted to DynamicATL in Covering up 3rd brake lamp
Even though the light is reduced some due to being covered, you can still clearly see it. Since the 3rd brake light only comes on during the braking process, as soon as you see red in that area you should know to stop. With that being said, if a driver somehow can't see the rear tail lights while the person is braking, I seriously doubt the much smaller 3rd brake light will be what saves the day.
Also a higher price doesn't necessarily equal a higher quality installation. I have seen a $120 job that looked great and a $240 dyed job that looked like trash.
