Hey guys I haven't been on here for a while but thought it would be a good place to ask my question.. I am wanting to wrap the bike I just bought. Its a buell firebolt. I was going to tackle it myself as a fun project. Question is how much vinyl should I get? I am just going to do the white plastics.. Thanks guys!

hello, I am trying to get a recomendation on a well known reputable shop in the southeast fl,la,tx? or surrounding areas that has the best quality vehicle wraps. Its for a suv, not concerned with the price, just want the best job possible, iv seen lots of cars wrapped and most of them have jagged edges and uneven cuts and scratch marks from application, trying to avoid all of that.

3M 1080 Carbon Fibre Same As 3M Scotchcal Vinyl?
by Guest griffin dai- 4 replies

Is this the same stuff as 1080 or a new 3M product? I'm looking at covering a few interior parts in my car and was thinking either the Hexis c/f vinyl or 3M 1080, then stumbled across '3M Scotchcal' Have used 3M Di-Noc and the cheaper Ebay 3D c/f vinyl in the past but want a more of a sheen to the finish this time.

Out of curiosity has anyone been able to find any place to purchase the chrome vehicle wrap? I contacted a company in Germany saying they bought it from 3M but when I called my Rep she told me she had no clue and they didn't carry it. I get atleast one phone call a week about it and I cannot find it anywhere! Can anyone help?

I know there is much easier stuff out there like the 970 and 1080 stuff. However, I read about so many people doing complete wraps with stuff like Oracal 751 so I gave it a shot (and ordered a lot of it).... wish I would have took pictures before I ripped it off. It was BAD, it look me 6 hours to do one fender and still looked like crap. The adheasive was so strong you could not move any air trapped even a 1/8 of an inch. So I couldnt just pull/stretch it in place and squeegy it down. It had to be perfect right when it touched the surface. I did my fender wet to test it out. 80% water and 20% alcohol, I soaked it pretty good like it was PPF. Seemed to lay down perfect a…

The youtube videos make it look so easy... At least I think I am slowly getting the hang out it. Its like learning out to tint, the only way is to practice hands on... Also have at least ONE friend to help when doing a hood Using Oracal 751, cant imagine 651 if it really is harder and I can see why some spend big money on the 970RA stuff. I think it also might be because I have no wax on my car and cleaned it with alcohol... it bites hard. Thanks for listening. I need to lay down now.

So I bought a new (2004) truck to serve as both a work vehicle and a rolling advertisement. Does anyone have any experience with applying film to plastic fenders?? I am in Montreal, and we have some nasty winter weather. I can't find any information for 3m controltac films, as to whether its possible or not. Thanks in advance.

Well i will start off by saying i am new to wrapping, having only played with pieces of film for fun, not actually wrapped a car, so impressive skills to the rest of you and i hope to be at that level some day. In my current state i just have experience in installing PPF and some vinyl stockers/decals, etc i also work with Oracal 8300 series film for tinting tails, etc. So i do know my way around a hard card and heatgun I attended SEMA this year and have to say WOW, i feel the whole vehicle color change process is really beginning to pickup speed! and i hope i can be a part of it. Avery,3M,Hexis, etc all had vehicles being wrapped in their booths and by phenomenal ins…

Rock chips on hood question
by Guest blnewt- 2 replies
- 3.6k views
I want to wrap my hood to cover all the small rock chips (it's a gloss black car w/ gloss black hood wrap). Do I need to repair the rock chips or can I just cover up the chips w/ the wrap? It's a 3m 1080 vinyl, hopefully I can just cover over the chips unless they'll show through or cause bubbles. Any help w/ this is appreciated, thanks!
